    Hello,
I have a 2004 4Runner Limited. Recently had the dash removed to replace the evaporator and heater. Since then, the on screen GPS calibration will not hold true to the location I set. I've had the shop confirm all cables are installed including the GPS antenna.

What are some methods I could use to reset the navigation system to have the location calibration hold true?

    Thank you

Hmmm.....did you also lose all your presets on the radio stations? Just wondering with the power being disconnected to the head unit that it lost all the settings and you have to run the setup install on the NAV DVD again.

I thought the Navigation system in the truck ran off of satellite & the micro sd card on the bottom right corner of the unit (under a tab).
If that is not a Navigation item, does anyone know what it is?
I am not trying to hijack the thread.
Maybe the SD card was damaged or came out.?

Yes, I have the DVD version. I would like to run that setup install you mention. Where can I find instructions on how to do that? Thank you.

I think newer units do, but a lot of the older units ran off DVD's that were in a separate slot behind the screen. Had to go into settings and mess with the DVD installation and the whole head unit automatically folded out and the DVD popped out. Then just pop the DVD back in or a newer updated version and the unit did all the install work itself. That's how my 2008 Lincoln was.

Have no idea....just have to mess around with your settings until you find the one that lets you eject the DVD.

Yeah that's nearly first gen Navigation he's dealing with. I hated mine because I had to update the DVD every year if I wanted to stay up to date with construction....but those were always a year behind anyway. Think I bought one bootleg copy on eBay once and downloaded another on the bay. I wasn't about to spend $200 on a DVD that was never current.

Not sure if it was this way on Toyota's but on my Lincoln I believe the Navigation had a separate settings menu where all the install prompts were. So if you're not finding it on the main settings that could be why.

It is odd you say that...
We got ours in March. Last week my wife & her friend went to Tennessee.
We don't have much experience with the system. I did input her final destination in before she left.
When they felt they finally needed it, they used it & Google maps on a phone together.
The truck told them to take a right while the phone said to take a left.
    The phone was correct.
These are not new roads as it is on an old golf course.
Lesson: time to find a phone holder for navigation.
Our first failure in the T4R is inaccurate nav. I am okay with that! Lol

I love the RAM Mount I got. They have a lot of different versions. Fairly expensive but worth it in my opinion. I got the seat bolt mounting bar version, but there is one you can mount to the dash by removing the trim and drilling a hole in it to screw the base down. There are some videos on the YouTube. Unless a suction cup on the windshield doesn't bother you go for that...but that bugs the crap out of me.

Since I trust a phone or tablet over an in dash navigation. I am simply trying to bring options for nav other than factory.
As stated above Ram mounts seem to be very popular.
Last week @ my local offroading shop they started selling Mob Armor.
    This is the pro 90.
    https://youtu.be/EXNRYOJTiwk
    They have many styles
Anyone heard of them or use them?
I am hoping to mount the pro 90 next to the volume knob. Just hesitant about adhesive giving away.

I would be hesitant about the adhesive too. I even tried the super strong 3M auto tape and that didn't adhere to any of the parts of the dash or the console for more than an hour before giving way. There must be some sort of coating that protects against fading and cracking that prevents adhesive from working very well. If you scuffed the area with sand paper and then cleaned with alcohol you'd probably have better luck, but then if you want to move it or sell it later you have a damaged area. That's why I decided on the seat bolt mount.
