I will be installing a stage 2 Icon kit soon and want to get some new wheels because my current tires are in definite need of replacement.

the 8.5 is -10mm offset and the 9 is -38mm.

Is anyone familiar with the mods needed if i go 285/70/17 or 275/70/17 for the tire?
If you have pictures please post. I would like to see if the stance would also be worth the negative offset.

Would a BMC need to be done? I'm sure there will be some trimming, but i just want to plan accordingly.

    Thanks

I had to trim a bit of bumper off and push my fender liners as far forward as I could get them with my -17 9" Level 8's, even with just 265/70/17 tires. Pretty sure I'd have to do the BMC if I went any bigger with that much negative offset. You can see pics in my build thread. -38 you're likely looking at major trimming and cutting front and rear. The 8.5 -10 wheels would be a bit more manageable but you'd probably still have to trim stuff and move the liners.

Thanks for the info, that helps. I think ill go with the -10 then. Do you have aftermarket UCAs?

Whoops, mine are -12 not -17. I do not have aftermarket UCA's, and I can't get into alignment with the 2.5" lift I have. I'm about 1.7 degrees in, that's as close as they could get it. One reason I got the -12 9" wheel is because I'm planning on JBA UCA's in the next few months and that's what they recommend to clear them with 285's.
