Hello there, is the engine noise very loud or is it acceptable for this size of engine ? Also any regrets because of the noise of the engine?

Not in mine... now, my 2012... it was slightly loud.

I barely notice it at all. One of the smoothest engines I’ve owned and was one of the first things I noticed when test driving it.

Much quieter than my Tundra was.

I had a 2019 Tacoma before my 19 T4R and this thing is A LOT quieter and a lot smoother than the Tacoma.

My real only gripe about the vehicle is the shitty steering. Everything else is great IMO.

My 07 T4R was a lot quieter than my 18 T4R. I don't mind though. It allows people in crosswalks to hear me coming!

I just turn up the crappy speakers that I've apparently already blown in less than 6500 miles.

Yes...I'm still considered a newb since I've only had it since January. This is my first Truck/SUV and I'm coming over from the world of sedans. I love it, but I do find myself a little more nervous in rain and with curves in the road at higher speeds. Still trying to push the limits on it a little bit as far as handling, but I do realize it's not going to corner or hug the shoulders on 360 degree off/on ramps like my '08 MKZ or '98 Avenger did. I think that's the part I miss the most because I love zipping around corners and curves.

I am sure most people are happy with theirs.

I personally think it sucks. Mine has the wobble at 60mph that I thought I had fixed, and now its back. Mine also has steering wheel vibrations, feels like I am holding an electric toothbrush, and also the wandering (needs constant corrections to keep her straight) on the road drives me nuts.

Aside from that, I think the vehicle is great. Hopefully with a new alignment, balance, and tires I can get mine to be the way it should be.

Sucks you're having issues. I do not have any type of wobble or vibrations at all.....but....I will agree that at high speeds, the steering is "sensitive". I wouldn't call it wondering in so much as moving the steering wheel 1mm, causes the truck to move. I will say I am more and more used to it, and so its not bothering me much.

    Hopefully you'll get it sorted.

    @Ozzy52 ,

The number of posts you have made to ask questions about different aspects of the 4Runner is amazing to me! I have never researched a vehicle so extensively before purchasing.

If you end up getting one, I hope you enjoy it!

Now, to the question at hand...no, my engine is not noisy!

Have a 2019 Limited since March 1. Almost 2100 miles. Seems loud when starting up but quiets down as RPM's settle back to 550-600. Don't noticed engine noise when driving. Averaging 19.7 mpg. Has slowly increased as I add more miles. Very happy with this purchase.
    Really appreciate this forum!

I researched for about 8-9 months before I chose the 4Runner. I would choose it again. It was the best choice out there for me. Joining this forum was the second best choice I made.

    Before I bought my 4Runner, I had a Tacoma.

I needed more interior space and didn't want an SUV that was a glorified mini van...so the 4Runner was an easy choice.

That was basically what decided it for me. I didn't want a Station Wagon/Crossover. I needed something more practical for me and I wanted a true 4x4. Was looking at full size trucks, but this was something I could still squeeze in the garage.

So I rented a runner yesterday and it was fine, I ran it up to 75 just from I've seen a couple posts like yours.
I went to buy one today and lucky for me they had 2 identical runners. The 1st one I test drove had an ever slight vibration noticable from 45 to 55 .told salesman I wanted to drive the other one to see if it was the road or the runner. Second one was fine so I bought it.
I would recommend test driving on a highway before signing on the dotted line

Bummer to think it’s fixed just to feel it again. Hope you get it taken care of. Let us know what does the trick.

I don't believe that all 4runners are going to be bad on the highway.
