Have a brand new TRD OffRoad for a week now. Just noticed that the spare is NOT an offroad tire like the other 4. That doesn't seem right. Is that what Toyota delivers?

My spare is the same Bridgestone as on the other 4 wheels.

That doesn't seem right. I wonder if the dealer upgraded the tires but didn't change the spare tire to match.

As long as its the same size, why does it matter? ITS A SPARE TIRE

It doesn't matter. It's just kind of odd.

Went to dealer yesterday and spoke to the salesman and another guy from the service department. They told me, Toyota considers spares in the same way they considered spares when donut type spares came out. You put it on, get the 'bad tire' fixed or replaced and put it back on. The spare is only a spare and for short duration use. My argument of needing an all terrain tire to get back to 'civilization' or through a mud bog or whatever didn't change anything.

I agree with the dealership. If the tire is the same diameter then you are covered. You can always go out and buy another spare tire that is the exact brand and tread design. Good luck

    I'm in the same boat.

They don't supply you with a matching wheel either........which in my book makes it a temporary fix.

So long at it's the same diameter, I'm fine with a different tread pattern until I get it fixed.

It's not like a stock Dunlop spare is going to get you any further than whatever you have under there right now.
