I have 7’6” x 6” pvc pipe with with a conduit kit making a really affordable rod carrier. I’ve never mounted anything on the roof let alone with the big roof rack. I expect to have it in place at least 9months out of the year. Any advice?

I find the ‘19 pro roof rack nothing short of worthless. Aesthetically, I think it’s okay but the sub models and previous years are much more functional, especially for your request. I have let mine run it’s course and my new Prinsu will be here Thursday. You obviously made the commitment to a Pro, I suggest making the move to a functional roof rack and score an extra couple hundred towards your new rack selling it to someone who wants it. Lots of opinion in my response and zero towards your real question but I suggest you give it some thought. Welcome and good luck with your decision!!

I wouln't stick my rods in a PVC and have them bounce around while driving.

I'm for getting a different rack.

If a new rack cost is out of the equation try to find rod bags and I would just bungee it to the roof. I still cringe when I see people doing this but I'm out of ideas.

Did this on top of a 2000 Dodge Durango with a 20 foot piece of 6 inch PVC when I was building my house. I used it to pic up 20 foot pieces of trim and not have to worry about them getting wet while I was at work. I attached the tube with ratchet straps. It looked pretty hokey but it worked.

I still don’t have an answer on how to do what you ask but here are my top three I went through on my decision. Since I love to give my opinion, I will share why I chose what I did..
What I chose. I already had accessories from when I had my tacoma so I stuck with Prinsu.

My #1 choice but a little pricy and I couldn’t bring myself to pay for the accessories. https://www.southernstyleoffroad.com/product/5th-gen-4runner-roof-rack/
Strong runner up with a great upcoming company with extremely high quality accessories, I just don’t like their logo that they are so proud of and put on everything they make. https://www.victory4x4.com/product/V4R5RK.html

I would use stainless u bolts. A pool noodle split length wise works well for some protection from bouncing around.
