Looking at customizing my silver 2014 Limited 4x4 with new tires and new wheel rims for my son to drive to college. Currently stock tires 245/60/20 with 20” factory Limited model rims. Wanting suggestions for an all-terrain tire with black wheel rims that will give 4Runner a more aggressive look but keep the ride fairly smooth and quiet. Vehicle has silver stock running boards. A majority of my driving is around city and on the interstate with occasional off-roading and trails on weekends.

Wanting recommendation for quality rated wheel rims and brand tires for a fair and reasonable price? Do I need a lift or level kit and how many inches? What tire size is recommended so tires do not rub? Ballpark price estimate for new rims and tires?

That’s way to generic and open ended of a question.

your best bet in any case is to get a wheel/tire size that matches OEM very closely. if you get a different sized wheel you've got backspacing issues to figure out. Hopefully your wheel seller can help you with this, i'd rather revisit calculus than try to figure that out. if you increase your tire diameter you run into other fitment issues as well.

Get a set of Trail wheels from someone who swapped them for TRD wheels ($400 for set from seller)
Get them painted/coated black (~$200? just guessing)
Slap on some reasonable AT tires ($800 to $1,200 depending on what you get)

If you want to buy new wheels, a lot of people like FN wheels

If you want to spend some $$, there are some sharp looking Black Rhino wheels out there (in my opinion)
