Hey, I have a 2010 4Runner and I'd like to lift it up. I was at Cedar Park Toyota and the Parts manager Jake (Very Cool btw) suggested a particular kit but I can't remember the name. It starts with D. He compared it to the Toy Truck ones. Not sure if I'm getting that name right either. Anyway, I don't want spacers, I want a solid set up. Please give me some thoughts/opinions. These kits were $2500 - $3000 including installation. I'm a novice car mechanic at best. Used to work on my 68 Camaro in high school.

Dobinson's coils and shocks will get you a very high quality lift for the money. Add upper control arms if you go higher than 2.5". No need for a differential drop. You'll spend way less than $3000 with this set-up so with the savings, you can get wheels and tires if you want.

Not sure what the Eibach kit does to these 4runners...
I can say they made my Supra feel like it was on rails. No harsh ride. Just turn & burn! Absolutely amazing!
I have heard nothing but good things about Dobinson. FYI

Eibach is excellent for our trucks as well.

    Really good shocks and coils.

Do we need to poll this?
    Just for fun?

Someone with more knowledge than I, can you please start a poll to see what major of people are using.?
    Ie. Springs, UCA's shocks etc..
If this already exists please send me a link.
Otherwise, a large T4R response would be very helpful to a lot of people...
    I need to learn.

Dobinson is the best of the best for the price! They will give you the best off-road performance of anything available out there today. In fact, they are widely used on Land Rovers, and many of the other higher-end SUVs for the sole purpose of their off-roading capabilities.

Now a poll is needed! Lol
Would a mod or someone with thorough knowledge of the suspension put up a poll of the top 3 or 5 suspension setups for the 5th gen?
I know some of the names & other things, however, if someone could post a poll on just which manufacturer you use (not the level (stage) of lift).
That would help quantify the majority of installs. Either kits or built.
May make for some interesting discussions.
I will not pay $6k to run tires 2" bigger... I don't Baja my T4R.
Maybe this is a newbie topic or something to discuss.
I shall let you all decide.
Experience and facts only please. I don't want a fight over brands...
    Hope we all learn something!
    Thanks all.

Yours is one of the most commonly asked 4Runner questions all across social media, second to "what's the biggest tire that will fit". You'll find that the most common answer is "the best is what I'm running". There are many variables that need to be plugged into your question; what type of terrain will it be driven on, percentage of road time vs. trail time, how much routine maintenance is needed on lift components (joints), ride quality, load capacity, etc. Everyone has their own unique wants and needs.

You have a lot of research to do concerning exactly what you want out of your lift and what's out there that will fill those needs. I sense you are on the right path by deciding against spacers. I would suggest that you send an email out to ToyTec Lifts with your needs and questions. They're the experts and can steer you towards the right lift for you.

I too think a poll would be pretty cool. I just have a rough country lift on mine right now, but would like to upgrade maybe next tax season and would like to see some measured opinions on the best of options available at an affordable price!

Maybe something with the top 5 brands & price ranges.
While quality is a good measure it is objective and there is always a lemon...
