I just bought a new 2017 4Runner last night. This is my 1st :) I connected my iPhone to the stock Bluetooth in the car. Everything is connected (all my contacts show up on the screen, all my music shows up etc) But when I choose a song or try and make a call it will only play through my phone not through the speakers in the car. Its so weird. I tried a factory reset on the car stereo, removed my phone from the system (in my phone and in the car) and reconnected and it still does the same thing. It also does the same if I turn off Bluetooth and try to go straight through the USB. Any ideas?

This is a total shot in the dark but I have a Kenwood aftermarket double din head unit. It does the exact same thing. I found there is a setting for iPhone or Droid and it needs to be on the correct setting for it to work through Bluetooth or USB. Hopefully this helps

Look to see if it's connected as phone and music or just phone. There is an option somewhere to set it up as one or both types.

Check Toyota website and see if there is an update for your radio. I had a prius do the same thing. Downloaded the software to a thumb drive and downloaded to the radio through the USB in the car. Work perfect after that.
