Found a major source of noise under my hood. I was hitting some zerks with grease and sponging rust converter on some surface rust when I found that my starter heat shield loudly jiggled all over the place. Tightening the bolts did nothing. I pulled it out and found the washers on both sides where connected and loose as hell in their holes. Two sockets and some squeezing got them Rock solid. No more rattle. Weird design.
