Northwest OHV - Bridgeport, TX

Took another trip, this time north of Ft. Worth to Northwest OHV in Bridgeport, TX. It was less "hilly" than Hidden Falls, and fortunately it was pretty dry, otherwise that place would have been a huge mudhole. I enjoyed it, we kept to the Green (Easy) and some Blues (Moderate). I'll say for a stock 4Runner, plan the Blues carefully, we banged the skid plates quite a bit, and one of the drop offs would not have done well for us. We followed a Jeep around for a bit and he took us on some trails that were fun. I'd go back, if nothing else than to test it a bit more with some better skid protection.

Still rocking it stock, for now.

I'm going for a solo run at NW OHV in Bridgeport, TX just NW of Dallas on Good Friday morning. I heard it's not that big so just headed there for the morning half of the day. 25 miles of trails on 300 acres!

 

so how did it go!?

 

It was a smaller park than I'm use to but I'm glad it's open to the public for $25 bucks and a TX OHV sticker you will get at least a good half day fun run. A few tight trail heads for pin striping here and there, a few technical play areas with steep rock steps for jeepers. It rained two days prior so some of the trails had lying water. I started the morning on the far left corner of park that looked untouched with slick rocks and mud mingled together and worked my way around to the front. Yeah I had to use Google maps while comparing it to the printed pdf map. I saw two groups with a mix of toyoyas but they broke off after lunch. Saw a nice white 5th gen and a 3rd gen Tacoma with Tandem stickers, I'm assuming it's an offroad outfitter in the area. I let my 6 year old son steer through that open area so he can "hit some jumps", just little hills but huge to little man. Overall good visit and enjoyed staying in Frisco TX with family. We did some trick shots in front of Dude Perfect headquarters and went back to Houston. Gilmer and Hidden Falls have longer technical trails to offer but as long as my family had fun, no 4R flopped, and no body gets hurt I consider it a successful trip.

 

I "broke in" my 4R on Good Friday at Northwest OHV Park. I wheeled with the self professed beginner class, in a group called the Soft Roaders. Had a good time, and am looking forward to doing it again.

This obstacle is called "The Gap". It was steeper than it looks, but I understand it's usually pretty easy. On this day it was tricky, as we had to drive through a long section of mud and water right before it, so tires were packed with mud.

This obstacle is called "The Twins". It was fairly steep, with a few really big rock steps, and a pretty tight line, so I was surprised how easy I seemed to go up it.
