Thanks. Yep, that's the spot I want to see. But it's blurry where the attachment bolts are; even when you zoom in. I want to see EXACTLY what it looks like at that spot. And see what kind bolt/washer/nut combo they have there.

I want to see it so I can think about a way to make it look a little cleaner at that spot.

Not sure how much cleaner you need on a roof.

I agree. The kit that comes with the bars is about as clean as I can imagine, without welding them in place and then grinding and painting..

Could a guy use black hardware or is the stainless the way to go?

The black oxide hardware tends to rust really quick. You can get some anodized hardware, but it can be very pricyp.

Would anodized be preferable or have an advantage over stainless? (Cost not being a consideration)

I would use stainless, which I believe is what their kit comes with. Anodized is an option if you want black hardware.

I don't understand why it matters? That part of the vehicle is completely out of sight unless you are Shaq size.

It really doesn't matter. I just don't like the looks of raw "nuts and bolts" on luggage racks; particularly on an otherwise un-modded vehicle.

Just wondered if I could come up with a way to make it look a little cleaner. Maybe something with a black knob like the OEM crossbars. Just personal preference stuff.

I hear ya, I'm the same way if I can see it. I really like their 7/8th's rack but it has exposed bolt heads wherever there is a cross bar. But the rack is relatively cheap, so you could have all the hardware powder coated, this is what I was thinking about doing.

For the price, these crossbars are nice. Lots of tie-off and tie-down options and ability to carry big stuff. For a simple cost effective option these look hard to beat. I like that they're flat and not curved like OEM.

You could even throw up a piece of plywood and sleep up there. Or simply bolt down a big piece of plywood for temporary transport of big stuff.

Yeah they look to be very versatile and the reviews on them are great. I also like that this company doesn't seem to gouge it's customers meaning I think you get a good value for your money. Their racks are cheaper than my previous favorite from SSO. Here is a couple of reviews on the racks. I was also looking at the bars but I believe I will one day want the rack. Yes the bars can be expanded later on but it ends up costing more than just getting the rack all at once. So just make sure you only want the bars unless you don't care about paying a little more later on. Now I need to decide on the full rack or 7/8th's. The full rack is not compatible with the crossbars for the stock rack, the 7/8th's is.

I have a 7/8 rack being built out now. Can't wait for it to show up.

Arrived on Thursday. I'm going to try and install it today. I have strep, but I'm going to try and power through. Life goes on.

Old post, but yes. Yes there is, and it's horrible. i removed mine after one highway jaunt and sold them. It sounded like a fucking dump truck was driving right next to me.
