Saw this video online. It talks about the new 2019 4Runner Nightshade edition and how it's not a smart purchase, and how only a sucker would buy a new one. Check it out and let me know what you think. Personally, I think it is a little overpriced for essentially a Limited package 4Runner. Interesting design, though.

I agree. You can black a Limited out for about 800.00 with some badges and powder coating the wheels.

Agree with some major points of the video, but then you also have a lot of non diy people out there now a days that have no interest in taking the time to black out a limited and save some money. They are much happier saving their time and paying a premium. As long as they are happy and Toyota is selling runners it’s all good I guess.

Seems kinda silly coming from a guy who owns a TRD pro. I wish I hadn't given him another view

Yeah, it's worth whatever someone will pay for it. A lot of people would rather pay extra and get a vehicle that's already modified to their liking. That's totally fine

And, if someone would rather buy a limited and black it out themselves, that's fine too.

All the manufacturers do these appearance packages and charge more money than they are worth. The PRO, Nightshade, XP, and other appearance packages are bread and butter for Toyota

Have to agree. I'm hooked on modding, but there are those that would rather buy turn key. Local dealer has been paying attention to the overland folks.FB_IMG_1554060426485.jpg

In my opinion, T4R owners are like the Jeep Wrangler owners. They love their T4Rs. And some love to mod the hell out of their T4Rs. That’s the big thing around the world today with automobile owners.

With that said, the loyalty that we see with Jeep Wrangler owners, aren’t as strong with all m the T4R owners as yet. That’s why you’ll see videos like this being made by a T4R owner who may have “Buyer’s Remorse.”

Nevertheless, this is America and we all have the freedom to express ourselves without the fear of reprisals. As for modding vehicles to one’s own likings, people.....be my guests!! Red blooded Americans have been nodding their vehicles from way back in horse and carriage days. In the 40s, 50s, and 60s, we saw the boom in vehicle modifications. Although, I wasn’t around during that time, I can certainly appreciate all the mods that I’ve seen on each and everyone of those old classics that I see on the roads today. Do you think that back then there weren’t people who had classics, modded them, but still had dissatisfaction with their vehicles? Yup, they existed back then too. No big deal to the masses then. And no big deal to the masses today.

Of course, I wished that my T4R were a “Transformer.” Whenever I wanted it to be a T4R, it was, but whenever I wanted it to be a monster truck, Bugatti, or the Starship Enterprise, it can be transformed to those vehicles as well. But, it ain’t gonna happen folks!! So, I suggest that we all just love our respective rides. Do whatever we wish with it, and be happy with it!!

Just to clarify my earlier post; I don't have anything against the PRO. I was just pointing out that it was silly for the buyer of an expensive, special trim to shit on another special edition trim for being overpriced.

I think every trim is just fine for whoever wants it. There is no bad option, just different needs/preference.

Everybody here has a great truck! No reason to degrade anyone's choice.

Thanks & much love to all T4R's!

Kind of a minor niggle, but the XP isn't a Toyota package. It's a dealer / port thing.

And dude is correct, the Nightshade is marketed to imbeciles.

I mean if you scour through youtube or any other video site you will find tons of people hating on every vehicle.
A 4R is worth what someone will pay for it.

I don't think it is Pro hate. Just a lot of people expressing their opinion that for a 600 suspension and some badges, the Pro is not worth the extra sticker price. This is the same argument directed toward the NightShade. I have a friend with a Pro and it is a really nice car, but does not have any advantage over my TRD Off Road except for a Fox suspension that I can buy on line as a take off for around 600.00, and he paid 8,000 more for it.

Maybe instead of it being a case of "Pro" haters, it is a case of "Pro" owners being a little too sensitive because deep down they know that they spent a lot of extra money with very little return on the dollar. Not sure who the clown might be in this case.:spending:

Just an opinion, Your mileage may vary.
