You guys know what this is? I saw it on my friends 2016 SR5 4Runner. I noticed I don’t have it on my 2019 TRD off road.

Here’s my engine compartment if you look on the upper left hand corner that thing is not there.

Is your model an SR5 and Dang your engine compartment is badass looking! I believe that is the anti-lock braking system. You have it but it may located in a different location.

Not sure if the TRD Off Road Premium is considered as an SR5.
Yeah I try to keep the engine bay clean just like the rest of the SUV.

Yeah I have the 2019 nightshade and that isn't over there either? Could it be the KDSS system?

Yeah that could be it. My previous guess sucks. I don't have KDSS so :notsure:

@4X4Runner has KDSS, maybe he can confirm

    This, it’s the ABS actuator.
Not KDSS. Everything KDSS related is along the frame and the accumulators are on the driver side frame rail.

I don’t have that in my 2017 ORP. Not sure where the current ABS actuator is and I’d have to take a look to see

I'm calling BS! OP just used this as an opportunity to show off his beautifully detailed engine and make us all feel bad. :annoyed:

So just like the stock suspension on the limited. Those components are also on the side rails.

With that side is there any advantage to saving any parts off the stock suspension on the limited. Any of the shocks, hydraulic lines etc. Or just throw them out. Putting kings with remote res. With click adjusters. @4X4Runner

I’d just toss it all or offer it up for sale as a system. If you can even salvage it as a system.

So this is your friends abs system. On other higher end models of 4runners there is an electrically boosted abs system that is located at the master cylinder.

Do you use a spray in foam type of engine bay cleaner and hose it off?

My 4Runner is still new that’s why my engine bay looks clean. I haven’t used anything to clean it or even hose it off.
