    First time for everything right?
I bought my first T4R yesterday, here she is in all her glory along side my buddies FJ. One previous owner who maintained her mechanically tremendously. Just over 259k miles and runs smooth. However cosmetically some interesting choices were made. Such as the shag carpet that was held in place by self tapping screws, screwed directly into the body of the 4Runner as I go along building her up I'll update this thread, I don't expect much interest but I'll have fun and I'm down for the experience. Happy trails!

Tore out the Shag carpet and the stock carpet liner. Both were pretty nasty. I completely forgot to take photos of the shag carpet, as I move forward with this project I'll be more diligent with photos. I'm glad I started to clean the back thoroughly because I found some rust, thankfully not too extensive but it means I'll have to do some more prep work for when I Herculiner the back. My goal today was to Bondo the cuts made just behind the rear seats. No idea why that was done but grateful for the challenge and another reason to Herculine it. However finding the rust changed my goals a little. I believe the source of the water was the aftermarket roof rack/sliders(?) You'll never guess how it was anchored, Self tapping screws and the rear pieces didn't have a full seal allowing water in. So I removed the Sliders, threw them away, sanded the rust down and as best I could filled the holes with some bondo Plasti Metal filler as best I could. May not be the best solution, open to suggestions. But in the meantime no more water can get in and I can sand, prime, and paint it to made it look a little better. Fixing all the rust spots are my main focus for the moment. I do have plans to put a lift on her and I'll do my best to update this thread on a weekly basis Happy Trails!
