Hi everyone, I figured it's time to join the community as I've been lurking through all the past maintenance posts. My aging 2005 4Runner is still going strong with only 133K, but has recently developed an ABS issue. Funny thing is I'm trying to fix it, and I've run across several posts on how to defeat it so that you can play with VSC, VTRAC, ABS all disabled. So maybe I should just leave it alone.:D I've done a lot of my own maintenance, and looking to upgrade the suspension this summer. So looking forward to assisting others, and receiving assistance with future mods.

Thanks! It first started when replaced the front right axle and bearing hub. The ABS speed sensor wire got stretched so I fabricated a new wire harness and spliced it in. After about 4 months, the speed sensor code started popping up and disabling the ABS, VSC and TRAC. I replaced the speed sensor and that didn’t seem to help. The error has been very intermittent and does seem to depend on temperature or wet conditions. Today it just gave me a new code for metal stick to speed sensor. I’m afraid it the brake ECU flaking out, but feel there a couple of this to rule out first. I’m wondering if I used to much bearing grease when installing the new hub that’s affecting the sensor. Here’s the ABS codes recorded today upload_2019-2-27_20-30-21.jpgupload_2019-2-27_20-30-21.jpg

I would think as long as your speedo and odo are working the ECU should still be good. I would check those sensors though.
