While watching the TFL review video, the steering wheel was the only thing I thought might be nice to have. In looking at the pics, I'm not so sure on that. I like the old school toyota branding on it that's for sure. And the leather looks comfy. Wonder if it's interchangable..

What are your thoughts on it?

Looks like it has all the right buttons. You’d just have to double check the resistances since I believe the steering wheel uses very few wires to communicate with the infotainment and head unit. There was a guy from overseas selling kits to adapt almost any Toyota steering wheel to some models of Toyota BOF vehicles. Can’t remember the name of the company but it should be possible

If it's anything like a steering wheel swap I did on a VW once, that involved a new clockspring, steering wheel to clockspring harness and a different steering wheel control module that then need to be re-programmed to fit my car. Would I do it again? Probably not but it was a learning experience.

Other than the mouth I will never not see it's just a normal wheel to me.

My girlfriend would prefer having a spot at six o'clock to stick her hand in that the 5th gen currently has but her three-spoke Honda and my previous Kia both lack it. Doesn't seem like there's enough space there in this case.

I like the steering wheel in the 5th gen 4Rs. This is fine, but doesn't impress me.

I know this is totally unfair because it’s a fine looking, normal steering wheel.

    But head on….

I’d worry more about the dimmability of all of the instrument display, since it’s all LCD panel. On some LCD screens, they can be too bright even when turned all the way down (due to the baseline panel backlighting).

Well after seeing this post last year, I decided to make the move and did it. I know most of you all don’t like the look of it, I actually like it because it makes my 4Runner more modern. Now I just got to work on getting the steering wheel control to work properly.

Yes. It came with the steering wheel. Plug right in. It was actually very easy to install. Just got to figure out how to get the steering wheels control to work properly with the t12v2 headunit and the dash options

    score!

MOST android radios have a settings menu to reprogram the steering wheel controls. (I don't have an android radio, just seen in videos)

I do t have a part number. I got it from alibaba. Only paid 250 for it vs what other websites in the US selling it. I am pretty sure these websites are buying it from China wholesale and adding on an extra 500$ and seeking it for $800 on their sites. I did a research and believe it or not all these aftermarket head units and other parts you see all these websites sale saying it customs made by them is false. They all buy it from China and just claim to be made by them or slap on their brand logo and make it theirs. Don’t believe them when they say 2 to 4 weeks production or lead time. Those 2 to 4 weeks is time for them to receive the shipment from China. I did the research and decided to by directly from the manufacturer than from these other websites

yea it’s in the setting for vehicle configuration. I just got to figure out which one best matches to work for both the steering wheel and the car.
2019 Toyota 4Runner is built on Toyota’s older platform the traditional Toyota CAN protocols, while the new GA-F multimedia system is what the 2024 Land Cruiser uses. If all fails I just got to get an ASWC for it and see if that will work.

once I figure it out I’ll post it here

A maestro RR should work in that regard.
