If you're using the WeatherTech cargo liner, I'm curious: does it stay in place well?

Currently I have the OEM cargo liner in place, and I'm just not happy with how it doesn't stay put. If I put something heavy on it, it invariably moves with the item when I go to remove or reposition the item. Heck, this mat seems to move around a little on its own!

I know there are other brands out there, and 80 different versions of the same thing in Chinese Amazonium, but that's not what I'm after. I'm looking for real-world experiences with the WT product.

    Thanks!

Too many to list & Worth every penny!
First , I do not own a WT Cargo liner.
I do and have owned WT floor liners and I can say, they fit better than any husky brand I owned beforehand.
    Never unsatisfied w/ WT.

I have WT in both my '11 4R and '03 Tundra. Fit is top notch. As far as the cargo liner goes, I've never had it move at all. It fits tight. In fact I've never even considered that it could move. This after years of sliding large items in and out of the cargo area such as suitcases, large boxes from Home Depot and Costco and even cabinets. Highly recommend.

Had weather tech in our 2015 CRV. Fit wasn’t great and they curled away from where they were supposed to protect. Too expensive for what you get.

I had Husky and Weathertech on the 4R.

I liked the Husky better and used them ever since. Its on Amazon.

I’ve used the WT cargo liner for years in both of my 5th gen 4R. Never had a problem with sliding. You can always put a small piece of Velcro on the 4 corners.

I’ve been completely satisfied with my OEM rubber mats, although I know it’s taboo to praise stock parts on this forum.

Cept for the sad excuse of a cargo mat.

Its like slip and slide on that thing.

Opposite here. Floor mats are aftermarket, oem cargo mat is perfectly fine. I don't know if they made them different in 2019, but nothing slides around on mine.

OEM mats have terrible coverage compared to many of the aftermarket options.

OEM usually has nice fit but often doesn’t cover the dead pedal or up and under the accelerator.

This is interesting. I agree with Slopemaster - I have not noticed the OEM cargo mat moving much at all. I keep a ~19"x16"x13" dry box/ammo box in the back on my 4Runner, on top of the OEM cargo mat. This box is full of stuff - 120V air compressor, NOCO jump starter, jumper cables, military folding shovel, hatchet, etc... - stuff like that. I'd say the box and all the stuff in it weighs 25-30 lbs. Also next to the box I have a bag with a 20' tow strap, couple of hitch receivers, soft and hard shackles - and that bag weighs at least 15-20 lbs. This stuff is in my cargo area almost all the time - sitting on the OEM cargo mat. The dry box has rubber feet - it stays in place really well. Have never really noticed this stuff moving - or the cargo mat moving around during normal driving.

Bluntly: they’re American-made and not Chinesium. It’s amazing to me how much Chinese junk is on the market, and people gobble it up like it’s going out of style.

    Exactly.

This is what I’m experiencing with the OEM mat.
Stuff on the mat generally stays where I put it (in relation to the mat), but I don’t like how much the mat moves around.

In fairness: the OEM floor mats (driver, passenger, rear seat) are just fine. I don’t have any complaints with those at all. But this rear mat is very disappointing.

S’pose I drop a bag of mulch on the OEM mat. It’s fine sitting right there. But if I drag that bag toward myself any when removing it, rather than lifting it up off the mat first, the mat will come with it. Put something on the mat and shove it forward? The mat’s going forward too. I’m tired of that silliness.

I have the husky, I think the thinner, more plasticky rubber. It stays put, I have a 20 gallon Milwaukee pack out box in the back I keep tools in.

if you want the more rubbery version, I think husky has it, just have to read more. I’m happy with the thinner, cheaper version. I didn’t realize until I got it I think $120 ish for driver, passenger, rear and cargo was maybe additional I forget

Seeing the picture online, I could be convinced to learn more about the Husky version.
The WT version looks like a simple rectangle, where the Husky version seems to be more custom-fit.

Husky mentions “Assembled in the USA.” What assembly is there? Sticking the Husky label onto the rubber mat?
(I’m familiar with the subtle difference between “made in” and “assembled in.”)

had some curling with our WT cargo mats, but we're sometimes a little rough on load-in. I've had WT, Toyota OEM mats and husky...I think the WTs are the best...fewest curling issues. I have a set of Lasfit mats now...fit is really good but haven't had them long enough to really say how they're gonna do

Yep didn't read your OP good enough. I can see if you were pulling a bag of mulch across the cargo liner it would come with the mulch. I'm thinking most of the non-OEM cargo liners would do the same - unless some of them have spikes that dig into the carpet - or attach in some way. Not sure that a non-OEM liner that fit better would necessarily do what you want. There is not much of a lip for the cargo liner to grab onto in the rear of a 4Runner. I think even a better fitting liner that just lays in the cargo area would pull out in your mulch bag unloading scenario. I've loaded 8-10 bags of mulch into the back of my 4Runner every spring since I've had it. Yes, you have to lift the bags out. Try pulling them across the liner and it slides right out.

Haha, I used the mulch bag as an illustrative example — my ride is still too new to haul mulch in. That’s what the trailer is for!

But the tool bags, duffel bags, and other random goods hauled still bring the same effect: that stupid OEM mat just moves around way too much.

I had the same issue with the stock cargo linear . What I did to keep it in place is cut some holes and tied the linear to the front d-rings . Now it doesn’t move at all .

Weather Tech floor liners , Husky liner in the back. The Weather Tech didn’t fit well in the back or stay in place. Weather Tech took the cargo liner back no questions asked, sent it back in the Husky Liner box. I bought the super duty W T floor liners.

I roll with the OEM and it's perfect fit. Has a velcro that attaches to the carpet under it and it doesn't budge. I have a the 3rd row and they way they did it it lifts up with the 3rd row and stay attached by the velcro. Now the items that are on top of it its a different story but my cargo net holds that in place.
