    Hey all!

I know there are many headlight options and threads out there but couldn’t find one that addressed my question.

I am looking at a controversial topic - drop in LED bulbs for low beams. I know there are better and worse options and I understand what I am getting myself into because I have Amazon drop in LEDs now. They are decent but one is going out already.

I see everyone recommends Lasfit for LED bulbs. But my question is, is the Lasfit Pro bulb (made specifically for the 4Runner) really worth it at $179? Or is the Lasfit LA series bulb just as good if properly adjusted at only $70?

For those running Lasfit LEDs in low beams, which ones are you running?

    Thank you in advance!

I appreciate the info! Thanks for the links!

I have read multiple things and have almost thought about trying the H9 for performance but just not a fan of the halogen color (I know it’s silly, but white light just looks better to me even though it may be my mind and eyes)

does anyone have pictures from outside the 4Runner with H9 bulbs?

I also am ocd so my LED fogs I feel will look very odd without LED headlights but maybe I am wrong.

H9, German-made is what I have in the 4R AND MY '17 Taco, and is the best and cheapest low beam upgrade you can do. No light scatter causes oncoming drivers to get pissed.

The lower K temperatures, "yellow", of the halogen bulb allow superior depth perception and better vision with particulates in the air, rain, snow, and dust. I use higher K LED off-road lights, and that made me put amber/yellow LED foglights in the 4R, Rigid, and KC Gravity my '17 Tacoma. Way back in the early '00s I put 100/80 watt Hella blue H4 bulbs in the euro lights, dual relay headlight harness (no melting and no fires) on my 19888 VW Quantum syncro Wagon GL5, and immediately noticed horrible vision at night in snow and rain.

The best LED setups are OEM or Morimoto headlight assemblies; all else is absolute junk.

Sounds like you have definitely had the experience. I am going to certainly look into the German made H9 and see what I can do. Thank you for all this again!

If h9 doesnt suit because of the visible color it emits, and you want that sweet white OEM like LED visibility, then youre gonna wanna get the harness & a pair of 2020+ LED OEM lights from another 4runner.

Thats an even better upgrade than the h9 (which i did first and ran for 2 years)

I ran the German Osram H9s. They burn out in about two years.

The Philips 9200 LEDs imported from Europe are the only ones currently offered that outperform halogens. Previous versions of Morimoto Two-Stroke and Hikari Ultra (which I snatched on clearance) did as well, but they're no longer procurable new.

If you drive in a snowstorm, the halogen bulb keeps the headlight lens warm enough to keep clear. LEDs get iced over. I experienced this first hand this February.

No personal experience, but from what I see the new GTR Lighting Ultra 3.0 has the best beam pattern now. They are expensive but have life time warranty.
I have used older GTR Ultra 2.0 and they had a very respectable beam pattern.

I currently use Hikari Titanova. They are very bright, very decent beam pattern & relatively less expensive.

Definitely pay attention to the cutoff line of these powerful LEDs and it would be bad for on-coming traffic. If not less bright H9 halogens might be a safer bet with bit of trouble cutting and chopping to fit in H11 sockets.

I like VLED. This is the route I would have gone if I didn’t swap to Morimoto headlights.

Wow this is all some good info for sure! I will look into all these options as well. Very curious about the LEDs mentioned of course since I much prefer that light color even if it’s not the best. Also would be interesting to see about swapping to the OEM LEDs from the newer rigs.
