So while I was under the truck touching up the frame, I remembered reading on here it was wise to remove the cover for the KDSS and treat it as well. My question is what all should I treat in the pic below? Definitely don't want to treat something I shouldn't. And for the treatment, I'm using Waxoyl Hardwax Plus, same as I used on the frame, if that makes a difference. Thanks.

In my case I sprayed the pictured pump and aluminum block with Fluid Film. I figured everything there is water tight so the protectant can't hurt.

You can spray rustproofing on all the parts there. The aluminum manifold doesn't need it; but the other parts around it do.

Waxoyl Hardwax Plus though in pictures looks like the tar shit sprayed by dealers. If that's the case then it shouldn't be used on the frame, period. But it might be an optical illusion from the pictures.

Nah, the Hardwax Plus is actually really good (IMO). Once it dries it has just a barely tacky feel to it, but sets up well and lasts really well. Mine's been on a year and a half now, multiple brinings of the roads here, and the car wash I use has the under body sprayers. It still looks great, although to be honest I sprayed it on shortly after buying it new. Trying to keep it as rust free as possible. Thanks for clarifying on what to spray, not sure what I was expecting to see with that cover off, but it wasn't all of that.

You sure? Granted I think this guy was from the North East so probably one of the hardest places on vehicle undersides. You're spraying everything else around it, might as well spray the aluminum too.

Gahhh! Let me go back outside and spray that aluminum manifold, don't want mine turning into anything close to that.

Rustproofing spray won't save it if you let that kind of salt buildup rot for 8 years . If you're removing the cover yearly, simply hosing it off would be enough to keep the manifold serviceable, similar to other aluminum parts close to the ground, like the front bumper crash bar and transfer case. But it's as you say, a couple of passes with a rattlecan will typically cover both the lines and the manifold.

If you are under there and taking skids off......dont forget the fuel tank straps need a good shot of corrosion protection in the Northeast.

^Yep mine was purchased with the rear strap broken and the tank resting on the skid plate. Thankfully replacement straps are relatively inexpensive on the aftermarket.
