    Hey everyone!

I've been looking around and have had a hard time finding this part, I'm looking for the metal mounting bracket for the rear hatch strap only. I don't need the actual pull strap with it.

    Any help would be great.

    Thanks in advance!

Toyota Part Number 74650-35020-C0 only comes as the bracket and strap.

I'm not aware of anywhere that sells just the mounting bracket without the strap.

How do these companies make the aftermarket straps? Are they cutting up OEM straps just for the bracket?

That bracket would be very easy to manufacture for a person with the right equipment using a "Chinese blueprint."

The right equipment for these brackets are piece of strap steel from the hardware store, a hack saw, a vice and a hammer to get the right angle in the strap, a drill with a a sharp bit to make holes, and a file for a bit of finishing/shaping work. If you have that stuff laying around, it makes for a fun project!

Instead of slotting the bracket and sewing on a strap, it would probably be easier to hammer on a grommet to the end of the strap and bolt it to a hole you make at the end of the bracket.

If this helps...When mine broke I heated a screwdriver and melted a hole thru the strap. Used a washer and reattached it.

Just like every good DIY project.

Why buy something when I can spend several weekends, 3x the money, and bleed a few times to make it myself?

For the satisfaction of yet another nearly impossible job well done, of course.
