Hello All. Seems the 2019 model has a quirky GPS card? I cant seem to find a source (other than the dealership) to update the maps in my wifes 4runner. Tired of driving into black spaces. My research has come up with multiple part numbers however when I cross ref them on Toyota parts sites they arnt compatible with a 2019. Anyone with a 2019 SR5 update thier maps? How/where? Thanks

Do not update maps or software, only problems you will have almost immediately. Use wize app for precise navigation

Sorry to miss this request. For anyone looking, Try one of these on Amazon. I bought one and it works well till now. This (86271-0E077 ) may be the newest as of now.

The follow-up we didn't deserve but the internet certainly appreciates.

That wasn't the reason. I dud surf Amazon and other gos card sights. The replies were doesn't fit or can't guarantee. Didn't wanna brick it so I left it alone. Updated my 2017 Tacoma twice already.

WAZE is a good GPS NAV app for cell phones. Free and updates itself free periodically. Have used it for years in several T4Rs. Never bothered to even try the OEM version. It also gives reasonably good traffic info.

But I highly advice to keep the factory navigation up to date if possible.

Atleast in my experience using Google maps even though you have offline maps if you have to set a destination point or add a destination when you are in a no cellular data/wifi area you are in trouble. If you set destination while you are in a cellular/wifi it will continue to work through the no cellular area.

    Backstory;
We were on a road trip using Google maps. I had offline maps for the area. I had set all the destination points and stop points in between. While we on the way Mrs wanted to find a place to eat. Tried to search restaurants in google maps itself. Had no luck finding due to no cellular or wifi data. On top of that now I was not able to continue with the previous route. Lucky I had saved all the places during the trip on 4Runner navigation and able to select on saved point and continue till we get to a next city. Both my android and my wifes iPhone had offline maps. Both were useless when there were no signal.

That's why the old and trusted Rand McNally is stashed in the back, but even these need to be updated every decade or so.

Curious, what vehicle and model year you are using this in?
The ad you linked clearly indicates compatibility with 2014-2018 4Runner.
Are you having success in a 4Runner outside those parameters?

I bought 86271-0E075 in 2023 (back then it was the newest) on my 2019 Limited.

In 2025 "077" seems to be the newest version from what I see.

OK. So it is working in a vehicle outside their stated compatibility parameters.
Perhaps they just have not updated their site? (That would be ironic for a company selling "updates")

I got my ol’ reliable Garmin GPS around too. It’s probably pushing 15 years of age at this point.

Slow, but still gets map updates and can sync with my PC.

It appears all software is going cloud based subscription, which is why I think my 2021 represents peak 4runner. The ability to use locally stored maps is so nice when when you don’t have signal. It’s always immediatly available, no need to decide what areas you need to download before hand to use in offline mode, which lets you navigate with convenience anywhere you want, and whenever you want.

That said, the convenience has reduces my navigation skills and situational awareness. Paper maps are more wholesome for the mind lol. But it beats buying a car that locks you into having a big ass nav display that doesn’t actually do anything without paying a monthly fee.

If I were to renew all subscription services on my 4runner it would cost a whopping $545 yearly.
