That does not look like a factory installation. When switched on, does anything turn on? Like maybe grill lights, or ditch lights? Is there a compressor mounted under the hood for airing up the tires when four-wheeling?

Follow the wiring. Only the previous owner knows what it’s for.

Usually a self destruct, when it's in that location. I think that arms it and the blow up button is somewhere else.

It shows the previous owner didn't give a fuck, when he could've used one of four pre-existing empty spots with blanking plates. :p

And he could have clocked it to 12 o’clock, but that was too much work. ;)

Seriously though, it could be a kill switch. What it kills is anybody’s guess, I wouldn’t touch it.

Ok, Seriously seriously, @Caedmon, check the fuse box under the dash by the parking brake to see if it has a piggy back fuse tap in one of the slots. If it does, it’s probably wired to a relay under the hood. Look under the hood for a relay somewhere that looks out of place, then follow those wires to the aftermarket accessory it’s powering. However, it could be the accessory was removed already.

I agree with filming it. I also want to see the Arc of the covenant when it opens.

    LOL.
    Thanks everyone.

I've toggled it a few times.
No gremlins, bombs, or covenant elite. Nothing noticeable happens.

The Carfax report DOES show nitrogen in tires, but I have no idea how that works.

Nothing in the carfax report tells me what might have happened.

I will try to follow the wiring the best I can.

    I will post my results.

    None yet

Tires just have nitrogen in them. Supposed to not fluctuate like air.

they may have removed whatever was attached to it. So now its a free toggle switch for whatever lol

As Inyo noted, usually auxiliary light. Cheap lights come with a wiring harness with a button that looks like that. It usually lights up when powered on. Yours may not be connected any longer. I guess I don’t give an F about my wrangler.IMG_0269.jpg IMG_0268.jpg

This is why I don’t like buying used cars anymore. There are now so many cheap lighting options and electrical accessories that people can buy. You have no idea what the previous owner did to hack into the wiring system to install them and possibly worse how they quickly removed everything when selling the car.
