Almost at 3,000 miles got the vehicle in September, it isn't my daily driver yet. To date probably at about 70% highway, 30% around town as of today currently reading 20.8 MPG. I don't drive like an "old lady" but I don't beat on it either.

my 2007 4x4 sport gets 17 to 20 miles per gallon , mostly around 18 . I calculate with a pencil not the computer .the computer reads a bit more . the pencil don't lie .

Automatics & high factory axle ratios make for some piss poor mpg's. Leaving tonight to head back to So Cal. with a different lighter trailer. Will check mpg too.

I've never reset the mpg indicator since I got my truck.

I read 18.1 consistently for the first 6 months of ownership. The last two months it has read 16.9. I assume this is because I haven't taken any road trips lately (all city miles) + winter blend gas and some 4wd.

2018 SR5 4X4, 6000 miles.......computer currently reading 19.7 for the lifetime of my use of the ride for all types of driving. I have not towed anything and I haven't reset the mpg computer after any fill-up, only the trip odometer. When I typically do the math after a fill-up I am getting between 20-21.

Last tank was 17.9, a mix of all kinds of driving. Winter conditions. I'm hoping to see closer to 20 in summer.

As of 16,757 miles my average is 21.38mpg overall. It has taken a 2mpg (20.6, 20.4 were my last two tanks) hit this winter compared to summer. Use non-ethenol 87.

MT. to So Cal. 14.1 with an empty 6x10 enclosed v-nose cargo trailer. Still in S4 most of the way. S5 or D was a waste of pedal pressure. This was realtime mpg. The dash readout was always 15.6. Mind games.

I’m just on my third fill up. On my first tank I averaged 14.5 on the highway. Second tank was 13.5 combination city/hwy. On my current tank I’m running premium and driving in eco mode trying to get better mileage, but it’s not helping. I’ve talk to the dealership and was told it would get better as the mileage increases. I don’t drive with a lead foot at all. Really scratching my head right now to understand this. My Tundra gets better and it’s a 5.7 liter.

Never understood why people think the computer is an accurate way to measure mileage> :notsure:

Especially when they have larger or smaller than stock tires. While driving down a hill I can usually get 44 mpg according to the dash screen. :kona::jellydance::taco:

The last fill up I actually did the math and it was still that low. I don’t usually go by what the computer says, but in this 4Runner so far it has been accurate.

Yes it has 285/70’s, but others on here with similar tires and more accessories have posted better mpg.

You do understand that your odometer is not accurate don't you? So if you didn't somehow correct the odometer for your tire size then even your hand calculations are inaccurate....You will have to calculate your mileage by GPS or figure out the percentage of true mileage difference your size tires make.

Yes I know and understand that it is off. I’m just gonna drive it and enjoy it. I was just a little surprised that it was just so low. I had a FJ a few years ago that averaged 19mpg with the same driving style.

Well I don't mean to get on your nerves or anything but again, it may not be "so low". You won't know until you calculate it properly accounting for tire size.

You’re not getting on my nerves at all. I know you’re just trying to help. The tires circumference is 3.5% greater than the stock tires. I took the displayed mileage of 288 and added 3.5%, which was only 10 miles. Went from 14.4mpg shown to 14.9 mpg actual.

All this calculating is to much work I just drive it and it is what it is.. :D To me it's like all these bogus new fangled light bulbs on the market. You want to save money turn some things off it's simple been working that way since the dawn of electricity. :bananadance:

My 1996 limited 3.4 gets 18 consistently, beats the 12 from an old Wrangler I had and 9 from a Ford excursion I once had, for 369k miles I ain't complaining, plus right now , gas is cheap.

Just did a little gas test... I am coming from owning cars that had turbos so I always used 93+ octane in my cars. I did super 93 Octane on my first empty tank and I got about 370 miles out of that tank and my odometer read 18.5. I just did a full tank of regular 87 octane and got about 340 miles and it said it dropped to 17.4 MPG. I am running a stock runner when it comes to wheels, lifts, roof racks, or anything else that might negatively impact MPG.
