2003 4.0 - we've changed the alternator twice now....so the problem is elsewhere

i checked everything i could - 7.5a fuse good, main alternator fuse good....resistances in wires and across fuses good....the only thing that jumps out at me is battery light does NOT turn on with key on....the bulbs are LED on the cluster....so i dont exactly know how to proceed here

there are 3 wires on the alternator plug, all have continuity

is the yellow/black the exciter wire or is that the gauge wire?

i've attached the Alldata diagram....but even with this I'm still confused where to turn to next

im supposed to have 12v on white wire with key off? and 12v on yellow wire+white wire with key on ? is that correct?

ok so i've made some progress - i found out that it's blowing the 15A IG1 fuse at key on instantly... whether the Alternator plug is on or not....alternator wiring seems fine....and there's a whole bunch of other stuff on that IG1 fuse I'm assuming its either a bad ignition switch or one of the other components on IG1 circuit are shorting it?

my question is - where can I tap that yellow IG wire for the 12v alternator signal - I was thinking of tapping into the power pole of the ALT-S fuse but is that dangerous? is there another fuse under the hood that only gets 12v at key on that would be a better idea?

i tried running a wire directly from the IG1 power pole with a fused 15A wire to the alternator plug but that blew as well...which tells me the short is on the power side of the IG1 fuse

just to follow up - i figured the issue out

i pulled every fuse and relay on the IG1 circuit - i believe the issue turned out to be Radio but i may be wrong - either way alternator and battery light are working now
