Hi all….forum newbie here. Thx in advance for all the great info I am sure to get here. Just a couple of quick questions as I will be picking up my ‘25 4Runner soon:
    1) How easy is it remove the air dam under the front end? Also, are there any negative effects if I remove it?
    2) Are there any options for an installable, lockable safe for the new model 4Runners? Preferably in the armrest. Thank you!!

    Oooh look, another mod.....

    1) I imagine there are just a few screws to un-screw to remove it. Or you can take it offroading and have it ripped off that way, you know, like a lot of others have done. Toyota claims the air dam helps with MPG's but that's highly debatable. They claimed the same thing on the 3rd Gen Tacoma's when they put a similar air dam on that truck and TONS of people tooks theirs off and did not notice a difference.

Personally, I think that thing looks ugly.

    2) So far, there are limited options for aftermarket Console Safe's for the 6th Gen. A quick Google search only pulled up OEM one's.

I appreciate your reply….and I agree, the air dam is aesthetically displeasing.
Hopefully more options for a safe are on the way….thx again for responding.

1a) Easy if you can do your own oil

1b) Slight MPG loss, I think some YouTuber saw 0.7 MPG difference. I'd leave it on for that much, but it also depends on what you tackle off-pavement too.

Edit: Likely bigger difference cruising at speed and less difference in the city.

I believe it is five bolts to remove the airdam, easily accessed from underneath.

Welcome, and congrats on your new truck.

Congrats on your purchase! Sports look really good, be sure to share pics.

Air dam removal is a 5-10 minute job, just be sure to screw the bolts back in after removal, and make sure the holes located on the lower control arms have plugs. If not, they’ll whistle at 30-50mph. Good luck!

Maybe I grew up under a rock

But what is the deal with carrying a gun in your car? What are you anticipating will happen to you that you need a gun in your possession at all times?

A: Sometimes shit happens, and chance favors the prepared.

B: You're the first guy to reference a gun in this thread. Perhaps OP has other valuables he desires to secure.

Well said MeefZah. They’re looking for a “discussion” that has nothing to do with a 4Runner forum .

Welcome from Wisconsin! To remove air dam... more than likely remove the screws holding it. I would remove it when new or have the dealership remove it when you pick it up, store it away in your garage, when you get rid of it you can put it back on. About the safe, doesn't Toyota offer one from the factory? Could be mistaken.

op asks for safe in vehicle
Op name starts with sig, ends with pig - sounds like hes a cop with a gun (idk i put two and two together)

I assumed a person asking for a safe in a vehicle, with a name starting with sig (you know the first three letters of a gun manufacturer) would be inclined to store a gun..

What other valuables would you have to lock, in a safe, inside a vehicle? Im clearly at a loss

I pulled the air dam off my Dad’s ORP today. Took about 15 minutes, only trick was to figure out where to push the back of the clip to release it. Screwed the screws back in, and now he won’t rip it off first time driving through brush.

Congrats on the new 4Runner, you’re gonna love it. I pulled the air dam off mine the first week, took maybe 10 minutes with basic tools, nothing complicated. The only real tradeoff I noticed was a slight drop in highway MPG, but it’s worth it for the extra clearance if you do any trails or rough driveways. As for a safe, I put a Console Vault in my Tacoma a while back and it fit perfectly in the armrest, super solid and low profile, so I’d expect they’ll have something similar for the ’25 4Runners if they don’t already.
