Hey all, was wondering if anyone has any knowledge on possibly being able to swap the cruise control lever to the left side of the steering wheel? There is a dummy plate on that side, and I'm sure there's the issue of possibly having to reroute the wires. I use hand controls on the right side to accel/brake and it gets tricky when setting cruise. Any info helps.

Possibly check with the upfitter that installed your hand controls?

    Oooh look, another mod.....

If you were able to swap the stalk (hypothetically, that is), then the stalk would be upside down or even backwards. You would have to reprint the text on the stalk so the text is oriented correctly.

It seems like more trouble than it's worth.

Is there a JDM/right hand drive version available?

I’d start with figuring out what it looks like internally. Could be relatively simple, or there might be bits in the way awkwardly. I don’t think I’ve heard of this so you’ll be a trailblazer probably!

But anyone who’s messed with the wheel probably would have a vague idea.

If it’s just spinning around the axis to the left side then the text and motion will be correct, just upside down!

I installed factory cuise control in a yaris. 4runner setup is similar/same and i don't believe swapping it to the left side would be possible... of course money solves many problems. Might look at aftermarket options instead.

It's a simple two-wire connection between the switch and clock spring, and there's enough slack in the wires. You just have to figure out physical mounting. The switch is held down on the steering wheel frame with two screws. Might have to drill new holes on the steering wheel frame and/or fabricate/3D print a bracket.

The switch will have its direction flipped (up to set speed, down for resume), but that's easy to mentally adapt.
RHD models keep the switch on the RH side. Prado 150 shown for example:

I'm sure you could rewire the circuit and take the stalk out of the equation, and install two momentary switches that would replace the stalk and would perform the same functions. Those could be installed in left side dash blanks.

Red boxes indicate where the cruise control switch normally bolts to the steering wheel frame. There's room on the LH side to accommodate the switch. Easiest way is to mount it to the steering wheel back cover with a couple of standoffs and countersink screws:

The clock spring electrical connector is at the top of the steering wheel, so flipping the switch around actually shortens the distance for the wires.
