Did anyone ever figure out the studder shifting problem out at 1200-1500rpm downshift? I have a 2006 4th gen V6 with 340,000 that started about 3 months ago. I'm hearing on here that seems to be a big problem. Any info would be Greatly appreciated.

Prior to joining the 4Runner forum I was very active in the Honda Pilot forum. Honda/Acura had this stutter issue as well. I encountered it on my Acura MDX and on the forum people swore by Lubeguard Instant stutter fix. I gave it a try and it actually worked. I am so hesitant about "instant fixes" and "miracles in a bottle" but it actually worked.

What’s the service history on the transmission?

Lubgard is a friction modifier additive; a bandaid fix. It works, but is generally masking problem from incorrect or depleted ATF or actual clutch/torque converter problems.

At 340k miles, she’s had a good run, and Lubgard is probably a good solution until it time to rebuild/replace the transmission.

This is my story with the Shudder/Chatter.
Long story but cause is in the tranny valve body of my A750 tranny-the FlexLock valve & solenoid system that controls the locking and unlocking of the torque converter friction plates.
My dealer replaced my tranny at 48,000 miles.
Toyota has long history of failures and technical bulletins for its unique FlexLock system. The problem is in the tranny valve body not the TC which is the symptom. Hopefully your issue is something else. If you have an A750 tranny try driving in S4 and see if it does not happen.

I am the one that mentioned the lubguard product and i totally agree with others, its not a permanent fix and you're just buying time BUT it does work. I think you mentioned 320k miles on it, you might get to 400k with lubeguard but eventually you will need to get the repair done. But for me, it did work. I drove it for another year then traded it in on my 4R
