I just got my used 2016 4Runner about 2 weeks ago! I’ve always wanted one and finally found one that fits my budget! I haven’t bought too much for it yet just the weather tech floor liners. The dealer trying to sell me a pretty expensive extended warranty but unsure about whether I will need it or not. Of course they try to scare you into it. My truck has 146k miles on it but it feels new. My previous Toyota (Highlander) hasn’t needed any of these expensive repairs they are talking about and the 4 runner should be a better vehicle right?

im not a believer in extended warranties. Take that money and put it in a savings account and if you need it for the 4runner, draw from there

Warranties for a 4Runner are worthless. You'll never use it. Many here have never used the factory warranty that came with it. Some have, but they are a very small minority.
In the past I've bought the extendo warranties on other vehicles and have never needed them. I'll never buy another one.

Thanks to all for your replies! You have put my mind at ease about the warranty issue. It was going to be about 4k for that warranty, they were saying things like “ the electronics may go bad” and stuff like that. The only thing that’s happened so far was the dealerships fault, they replaced the front wheel bearings before I got it and didn’t do it right and the wheel was making noise going down the road so I took it back and had them check it and they said they didn’t do the job right! All seems fine with it now. Still getting used to the noises it makes but from what I’m reading that’s all normal stuff. Enjoying my 4Runner though. It’s a 2016 SR5 Premium it’s only had one owner besides me. Looking forward to reading about everyone’s experiences with their runners.
