Quiet a few things done this weekend:
    • Upgraded stock headlights to GTR Carbides
    • Added Diode fogs (thanks to a fellow poster for the deal)
    • Painted silver valances black (not the best job, some runny spots and missed spots on the edge lines)
    • And added the 2 grill badges

And only came away with 2 bolts and 2 white plastic clips into the new unknown car parts drawer

    Lol. Sorcery it is!

Just a true dual exhaust done by a local exhaust shop. Cats into xpipe to magnaflow dual in/out. It did take both up and over our the back. But i was hitting them on every bump known to man. So i cut them off and added dump pipes myself.

Pics are dark i know. My shop light was dead. Amd yes i need to bust out the angle grinder on those hanger bolts

Front brake job done on my 2019. At least 104k on these brakes. Did the rears last week. All Toyota OEM rotors and pads. We took a 500 mile trip yesterday and no issues, no wobbles and no shakes. Here’s some photos and photos of tools I used. It took me about 2 1/2 hours from wheels off to wheels on taking my time.

When I had my Off-Road Premium I had an aftermarket front TRD front grille. The kind where you have to screw the letters yourself.
The letters are too big and the emblems do not cover the letters. so.... I pulled the trigger and got a OEM from BAM. The OEM fits perfectly.

Here are the overlays with the OEM one.

Nice job with the double anti-rattle clip.

It makes a big difference, in my experience.

The parking brake had been feeling a bit less effective lately, so I made an effort to adjust it today. Some videos I watched said adjust the shoes, others the cable in the center console.

I took off the rear wheels and checked the brake shoe contact, neither side seemed too far off. I adjusted them in and out 'til they seemed right, but honestly they ended up just about where they were when I started...

So on to the cable adjustment inside. With the brake off, that cable seemed too loose, so I loosened the lock nut, then adjusted the front nut several turns, then re-tightened the lock nut. A little too much on the first try, adjusted it back out a bit. Put it all back together, and this made a huge difference. Not only did the parking brake hold well in neutral on my slightly inclined driveway, it now would hold the 4R if I put it in Drive from Park (with no throttle input) on the street...all with about 6 clicks. Mission accomplished.

I'd suggest anyone try the cable adjustment first. Another suggestion - get a stubby (or two) 12mm wrench. It's tight quarters in there.

I'll check it all again in a couple of weeks.

Got an OTT done on my 4runner yesterday from Allan at Master Yota. All I have to say is wow! Went with the medium for throttle response based on Allan's suggestions (33's E rated, rooftop tent, awning and loaded down for travel). Glad I got this done, Allan was awesome and very quick, I would highly recommend if you are thinking about it.

Thanks and yes, it's a Gobi Stealth with no rise in the front. Next up will be a Solid Wood Worx drawer system in the back for camping/roadtripping; just ordered it today.

    Just cosmetics this time:
    • Added plastic trim pieces to complete the fog light area, those little pieces just make it look finished in my opinion
    • Added BD Squadron-R street legal fogs
    • Added raptor lights
    • Added triple fangs
Morimoto XB Evo's will be added soon from whoever has the best Labor Day sale...

Lifted with suspension/tire upgrades, Diode Dynamics lights (fog, ditch and lightbar), and Sherpa Creststone roof rack.
Same with mine, agree and love them.

Thanks for this, I run load e 33s with some sht on the roof too, and want OTT. But, I heard some of the first negative feedback recently from two guys regretting the tune because of things like the forerunner holding onto gears before shifting and a couple other factors.

Did the uni-filter mod for the emissions pump. Pretty easy and i hope this works better than the original weed whacker filter that was inside

I got the mild version of the OTT, just before a trip from Toronto to Tuktoyaktuk. I have a ‘22 TRD Off Road (in Canada it’s only a premium, w/KDSS & sunroof). I think for ‘21 and newer models it also reprograms the transmission. My cruise control went from being annoying to enjoyable. My fuel consumption also improved. For my big trip (14K kms / 8.7K miles in 13 days), I averaged 14.5L/100kms (16.2mpg). On the Dempster hwy, slightly aired down, and 3/4 of the time in 4H (as it was waterboard and loose shale/gravel for most of the 800kms), I drove slower so had less air resistance, and got 11.9L/100kms (19.7mpg). I bring this up because I estimate my fuel savings from the tune just for this trip paid for more than half of what the tune cost.

For reference my set up includes the following. I have a pedal throttle controller called the Ultimate9 (which I got to deactivate the gas pedal at night, no input if trying to steal it), and I have it set to the highest setting for its Ecomode. So it’s a softer acceleration from a stop than the tune standard, and aids in fuel economy. I have full RCI skid plates, 2” Eibach Pro lift, 33” C load Toyo OC AT2s, DIY drawer system, Sherpa Crestone rack with a RTT & solar panels, a C4 bumper with Warn 10s winch.

@djwantke I was also hesitant but the highway cruising now is so much smoother for me, even when Im not using cruise control. Also being able to merge onto the highway and pass people is a big help as well. The low end throttle response from stops is a little touchy, but you learn to figure that out in about an hour. You just cant put it down half way like you used to have to with this rigs. If you have any other question feel free to reach out!

Did the 80k-mile oil change on my “other brother’s” 5th gen this evening.

He just bought it a couple of months and about 4k miles ago, and man, that oil we drained out was nasty!
New oil was such a nice thing that his truck even sounded better (quieter/smoother) after the change.

That’s shitty, but unfortunately happens way to often nowadays. It used to be common practice for dealers to do an oil change, any factory recommended services based on mileage, fill any low fluids, and check/replace wiper blades as needed on used cars they take in. Now, a ton of dealers are taking in vehicles, washing them, and pushing them right back out without doing anything else.

If the oil was that bad, I would check all the other vital fluids especially with 80k. I’d bet they’ve never done anything to the tranny, transfer, diff, etc.

Agreed. With that many miles and not knowing the maintenance history, those fluids should be changed for peace of mind. The coolant can wait 'til 100k. All others should get some attention.
