I am just getting into the GMRS radio world. I have my FCC license and a couple GMRS handheld units (I am still a radio noob) but haven't yet made up my mind about a mobile radio like the Midland 275s that seem to be popular here.

In the meanwhile, I am looking for specific antenna (and adaptors to fit a handheld) and external truck antenna mount system recommendations to use with my Wouxun 935G Plus GMRS handheld (and a possible future mobile radio) for road trips, which is my primary use case. I am not looking for a permanent antenna mount, but something that can be easily removed when not in use, like a magnetic or lip mount or ??? Thanks for any direction you can give me!

IMO use Midland MXT275 with its stock antenna. I use it not even fixed to metal roof using magnet. I have 3M tape under it. On my test it gave me crazy range even in city. The way I tested is Midland MXT275 in the vehicle and Handheld radios inside the house.

Since I posted this, I returned my Tidradio H3 plus GMRS and Baofeng UV-9G handheld radios to Amazon and just bought a Wouxun KG-915G plus radio (in earth color!) for my wife to partner with my great Wouxun KG-935G plus. Pay once, cry once. I am still considering a mobile radio for my 5G and am seriously looking at a 20w Wouxun mobile radio over the Midland to stay within the family.

FWIW, I still don't know how to properly pronounce "Wouxun". :D
