I've used the 3M wheel on a boat before without damaging the gelcoat, was wondering if anyone knew a less abrasive, more efficient way of removing factory pinstripe from a vehicle. Not to mention the 3M wheels are expensive!!

Yeah if it doesn't just simply peel off I would be inclined to take it to a body shop and have them do it cuz I know I would screw it up somehow.

Eraser wheels work great, just don’t sit in one spot to long.

Heat and a plastic scraper may work. Slow and careful.

I changed some lights, tires and tinted windows...mind blowing huh
I used to just use a heat gun and go slow, also usually did stuff like this in the summer to make it a little easier.

I'd almost be tempted to fold up a paper towel over the stripe and hold it in place with some painters tape. Saturate the paper towel with some adhesive remover. Pull it in a garage and let it set for 30 minutes to an hour with a space heater near it see what it does.

If that didn't work then I'd soak it in cider.

My wife did not even know there was a pinstripe on her truck. I told her what I wanted to do and she looked at me funny and said why. Then she went outside to look at her truck and said now that she sees it, that is all she sees and she wants it gone. Lol

Runs the length of the truck and has a little yota emblem in it too.

The Toyota factory does not add pinstripes that is a bad taste dealership add-on.

Definitely bad taste. Pin striping takes away from the body lines

That's crazy! I never even considered the dealer doing that type of thing.

    It's hideous.

I got the 3M eraser wheel ready. It's on my list of weekend projects.

Now I'm curious need to look when I get home. My first thought is that I do not have a pinstripe. One thing I did take off literally within ten minutes of getting it home is the stupid dealer emblem. Got to get them when their as new as possible. Mine pulled off by hand no heat or fishing line. Dealers should take an extra 100 off the price if you ALLOW them to put their free advertising on your vehicle. :amen:

When I got my 2018 I told the dealer no pinstripe and no dealer sticker.(4Runner was on the car carrier when we were at the dealer). They said ok. When we went to pick it up no pinstripe BUT a dealer sticker. Told the salesman no deal want my money back. He immediately took the sticker off. I told him I would be glad to leave the sticker on if they pay me to advertise for them. Needless to say I have no dealer sticker.

    Sour Cream an' Done-yuns.

Deleted all pinstripe, the dealer decal and the license tag shrouds. They had them on the front and back.

I ended up using a 3M eraser wheel. Then got any glue residue with a little Goof-off on a paper towel.

Got the Goof-off residue off with turtle wax "dash & glass".

.... then waxed the entire truck by hand. :muscleflexing:

Looks so clean now. What did you use for the license plate? I used this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CV5PLFM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06__o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 to protect the paint.
