Was packing up the Land Yacht for a road trip today and wanted to make sure I had a lighter. Opened up the center console and...Lord Jesus...

I was greeted with probably 500 tiny spider babies, who were located near the passenger side hinge of the console.

Not afraid of spiders, but I closed the console and sent hubby outside to deal with the situation.

Couldn't deal with the thought of murdering spider babies.

Kill the spiders. You don’t need the distraction while you’re driving - even if they’re the good guys like Wolfs. Plus they poop everywhere. Tempo SC is the ticket. Adios. I live by a lake and deal with these guys all the time.

I probably deserve it if that happens. It was bad enough finding a few strays crawling on my arm on the ride.

The funny thing about bugs is my wife will not kill anything. If she sees an ant in our house she'll get a piece of paper and let the ant crawl on it and then take it outside and let it go. if she sees a spider she calls me to come and kill it.

See, I'd normally trap a spider with the old glass and piece of paper trick and release the spider outside. Won't kill spiders - they're our friends.

I have an unnatural fear of ants, and fear in my elder years that I'll lose balance on my back porch, knock myself unconscious, and whomever comes to look for me will find me covered in ants.

I truly felt bad about the baby spiders today, which is why I sent my husband to do the dirty work.

    Oooh look, another mod.....

    Funny story about bugs...

Early this week I was sitting my office (I work for a law firm) and a few of the ladies who sit outside my office in an open cube area started screaming. The door & wall to my office is glass, so I could hear them screaming. One of the ladies banged on the glass and yelled "HELP! There's a HUUUUUUUUUUUUGE flying roach. It has wings!!!" A huge palmetto bug came up through a water pipe and was loose in the office. I saw it. It was huge.

I was on a Zoom call with my boss when he said "Um, is there an emergency you need to attend to right now?" Very casually I said "Nah, it's not an IT related issue." Then I continued with my meeting while the ladies outside my office were losing their damn minds.

I got the stink-eye from them for the remainder of the week. Not because I didn't help, but because I watched and laughed.

Hey, not gonna lie - I keep a sticky trap on the passenger side floorboard of my FJ40. Any kind of bug can get into that thing. Door seals are a joke in a FJ40. Bark scorpions sting and catch me off guard. Tempo SC = No bugs.

I currently have a wound on my forearm that has refused to heal - since February. A spider bite. Probably a brown recluse.

One year when my daughters were little there was a major infestation of black widows. Every week I made a sweep of the house perimeter with the old aerosol flamethrower. Scorched earth, as it were

I ended up taking a guy to the hospital, he picked up a piece of plywood and got bit by something, closer inspection found a bunch of spiders under the plywood. We found a baby food jar and collected a few of the spiders. After looking at them more closely in the jar he saw they were black widows, got him to the hospital where he was treated. All ended well. As for spiders in general.... I keep them off me, then there is no problem, otherwise I just squish 'em.

As a native Floridian I can attest to the fact that once you make eye contact with a palmetto bug, they will immediately fly directly at your face. Sounds like these ladies broke the cardinal rule of peaceful roach coexistence.

We had this happen in our office in NY 13 years ago.

I have not yet spent lots of time in FL and seen a palmetto bug. Glad I heard of this as I plan to be a snowbird and I am sure will see them if there for a few months at a time

Couple years ago in June I was driving from up I95 from Nevada into Oregon and the road looked like it was alive. Crawling all over the highway were 1000's of Mormon Crickets, getting squished and creating a slurry on the road. Stopped at a small cafe and they said sometimes it gets so bad the county has to get the snowplows out to scrape the roads.

I spent 3 weeks in an army hospital with a spider bite that made my knee swell up as big as my thigh. Had a bad fever for a long time and couldn’t put weight on the leg for 10 days. But "Nurse Ratchet" came by every day to make sure I shaved. I wish I knew what kind of spider it was. I'd a fragged her with a couple handfulls of the little...
