IMG_5498.jpg IMG_5499.jpg Have had the engine light come on (not flashing) a few times in past years and when I take it into the garage, it is always the knock sensor. I worry about it, but my mechanic isn’t overly concerned. These lights also appear at the same time. See pics. Has anyone else had issues with this, and what was found to be the problem, if you don’t mind sharing. Thx in advance. I have an 2007 4Runner.

    2UZ-FE v8 ?
    1GR-FE v6 ?

The v8 has a big cubby hole for rodents under the intake, and the knock sensor wires are quite literally the only thing under there so when they make a nest and get bored, the knock sensor wires are an easy thing to chew on for teething babies and to combat boredom. I suspect this is why the knock sensor wires are always chewed up when you pull the intake off and see a rodent nest under the intake.
