Looking at a used but silly nice 22 TRD ORP. 62k mi with wicked roof rack and new tires. Has an adjustable 1-3” Toytec Aluma Boss Suspension. Drives great. Paint and interior great. 1owner so not a Frankenstein. Price is fine too at $42k

I have to assume the lift suspension was done well. It checked out with two people I took it too.

main question is or does the lift (assuming installed correctly) reduce the long term reliability? I want this to be an every day driver, road dog and high mileage keeper. I don’t tow or Off road other than dirt ranch roads. Even if I have to replace shocks or suspension one day is 200-250k reasonable?

I think I found a badass ride but want to double check with you “experts”.

    thx.

Count on rebuilding the shock before 200k.

I personally don't think a lifted anything is a good DD. My 4R was lifted. I loved driving it but as my DD? Nah. Wife thought so would like it also. She said no thanks 2 weeks after I gave it to her.

But its what you are looking for in a DD. I prefer a smoother ride for something I'm driving everyday. Some people don't mind the little stiffer ride 24/7.

How's the frame on this silly nice, wicked roof-racked, badass ride, and are there service records?

I'm an old fart, so I'm of the opinion that a 3" lift is not going to contribute to a great ride or long-term reliability, but again, that's just me.

    Welcome to the forum.

Lift is going to impact economy, ride, dynamics, maybe some wear on front CV’s and suspension components but it’ll really depend.

I’d prefer one that was stock just in case personally but I have little faith.

    Make sure to test drive.

Shocks will wear out when they wear out, I expect sooner than 200k miles but that would be for any vehicle.

I’d say the rest of the vehicle’s condition and history matters more.

welcome. And a deal is only good if you feel it's money well spent. The mods are lowkey and fine if you were gonna do a lift anyways. As mentioned above, lifts are going to lower economy, etc as mentioned. Just make sure it wasn't just adding some springs and shocks with nothing else that should be done to keep shaft angles, swaybars, etc. 3" is pretty aggressive.

Nice find. Whether you’ll love it (or not) as a DD is subjective. One thing is for sure, that’s a super-nice Gen5 Runner. You wouldn’t be looking at one if you were worried about MPGs. So the fact that it’s lifted (with really great hardware on the lift) and lifted Runners do get lower MPGs, is what it is. You’ll have to rebuild the shock system when you have to rebuild it. That’s way down the road. Also subjective based on how/where you drive it and also other conditions like weather. Rolling around the streets of Austin it’ll be a long time.

Porsche Austin (I’ve been there multiple times) probably includes a short term warranty for free. I’d grab it before someone else does, if… that setup is what you want. Price doesn’t seem bad at all, with that setup and a clean Carfax.

Definitely looks (from what I can tell - and BTW I looked at it on their website just now…) like one that won’t be available very long.

Let us know if you pull the trigger.

I'm not a fan of the Toytec stuff but you can always swap out later for 6112's and be done.

OP post up pics when it's in your driveway!!!!

:spending:Buy it OP! This seems like an ok unit. Don't worry about the suspension, you can dial this down the road and get something a bit more appropriate for your needs.

Most of the stock suspension would not last 250k regardless of lift. You'll be replacing ball joints, wheel bearings and probably the steering rack at half that mileage. That's assuming you keep it on pavement. Going off road reduces component life by factor of 10, gotta pay to play.

The 3" lift will reduce CV axle life but not much else. The Toytecs coilovers are made by Elka and are known to shear their shaft. Most major-brand coilovers typically call for a rebuild every 50k, though they can go longer if you keep to pavement.

Thx to everyone who replied. I have it home in the driveway!!!! It’s wicked. My first 4Runner. I had a 2018 TRD Pro Tundra that I adored and numerous Top line F250 Diesels but happy to have the Gen 5 V6!!!!!

drives way better than I thought. Again appreciate the info

Thx Gup. Already looking at the 6112s and have been ordering lil things like console organizers and cubbie drawers. No auto lights prob almost got me in trouble last night but I figured it quickly.

any other “must have essentials” that you recommend

LED interior lights are a good 1st start. Then I went a little crazy with the interior black carbon fiber look in mine. Steering wheel pieces, passenger dash, and ignition surround. Also did the trim around the crawl control. But I like it. Considering KC cyclone rock lights for mounting in the rear hatch. Someone on Etsy offers an insert for the lights.

my 2022 is lifted and is my DD and I love it. My 2011 SR5 is lifted and my son uses it as his DD and loves it.

I guess it all depends on the lift, shocks, springs etc., but I have zero complaints with my Bilstein set up on either one of mine whether its driving around town or on long trips to NC for vaca.

Agree with Trailspecial, I put on a 6112/5160 suspension on mine (2.7 front and 1.5 rear) maybe 1k miles into ownership. Totally my daily driver and love the ride quality.

Congrats on the ride! Looks great score. You got the best of the last of them!

I don’t think you can go wrong with the bilsteins. The aluma shocks are supposed to offer a really nice ride, but unfortunately it seems like maintainance demands generally goes up with the price of shocks, and specifically, it seems like some of those aluma are snapping at the shaft/eye connection. So it may be best to just swap them out right away.
