The OP in that thread hasn't been around since he posted his shim idea, so I can't ask him...anyone got an idea what you could make these shims out of?

It's been so stinking hot around here, I haven't got to this fix attempt yet, but may give it a shot today.

Seeing as I only have an issue on the passenger side, in your opinion, would one be able to take one side of the bumper cover loose without having to remove the whole cover? I watched several videos of removing the cover, and it involves removing clips inside the engine bay, one 10mm bolt around the hood latch area, then bolts all along the bottom and fender edges of the cover. I'm thinking of removing everything on one side of the bumper cover, about halfway across, hopefully to get it loose enough on one side to give me access to that mounting bracket under the passenger side headlight so I can put the shims behind that female clip portion of that bracket. I'm hoping I can get it loose enough without removing the whole cover or having to unplug the fog light...

In this photo, it looks like the poster only had that side of the bumper cover loose:

Shouldn't be an issue doing just one side, i would pull everything from the center 10mm to the wheel well. That will give you plenty of room to install the wedges without putting to much stress on the cover. One thing i do that's not found in YouTube vids is covering the headlights with a layer or two of marking tape. Just to avoid scratching. May not be an issue just removing one side, but replacing the whole cover by oneself it definitely is.

I liked @Charlievee's idea of a storage bin. I have plenty of those around.

Yeah, that would be good too if it needs to be that thick.
I'm following this with great interest.
