    Hey all,

Did some digging and couldn't find an up-to-date thread on this (my apologies if I overlooked).

So, the long of the short: A/C not blowing cold air, not hearing the compressor kick on as normal. Thinking it's the relay that may be out but not seeing much on how to test this before ordering a replacement.

I have tried to pump some freon in it to see if that could be the issue but no luck, blower works fine, would just like to be able to ride to work without needing another shower.

Would like to avoid replacing the compressor if possible so any tricks or troubleshooting before that step would be great!

    Cheers.

What did the high and low pressures look like when you were pumping in some extra freon. Pressures can provide a lots of information.

Pressure was on the low end of full, I didn't push much into it with the thought of a relay/fuse issue being the culprit and not wanting to cause any other issues incase other trouble shooting led to a fix. I used a home-fix set up so there wasn't a "high" pressure to my novice eye. Just followed the instructions on the can.

The only time this happened to me was on my ‘75 Corolla. It was a disconnected wire at the compressor. It probably happened while I was changing points and condensers at tune-up time…

Careful with trying to use the cans from the auto part stores. Lots of them designed for home use have leak stop in them. This can cause issues and lots of shops won’t hook their equipment up to them if they know you used it because they don’t want that in their equipment.

Their response to fix it when leak stop is used can be all the hardware has to be replaced including lines so all the leak stop contamination can be removed properly. So you go from something as simple as a 2$ dollar valve needing to be replaced to a several thousand dollar fix because now everything has to be replaced.
