Welcome to the club! The sound seems to just be the pads grabbing the rotors...if you drove say 50mph and slammed on the brakes a couple times, like when bedding in new brakes, and then tried to do the slow grab, I think you'd hear less soft grabbing...does that make any sense? Long story short, I think it's not an uncommon sound for any vehicle.

Well, the sound seems to have disappeared - for now at least. Keeping my fingers crossed.
I understand that if if were the brake pads, I would be losing brake fluid, but it's at the max right now.

Just needs to be driven and it'll be good to you...get that rust off the rotors! ;)

Definitely sounds like brakes... drum brakes, is your ebrake adjusted well? Maybe you could notice more heat coming off one side than the other after a drive?

The brake fluid level in reservoir slowly lowers as pads wear. So it should not change much until you have say 20,000 miles driven. Cold fluid can change its volume as it heats up. Best to check level in morning before first drive. The brake fluid system is sealed but is open to the air thru the vented cap. So brake fluid absorbs moisture over time which in why it should be renewed every 3 years or so.

Welcome from Wisconsin! It sure sounds like brake pads to me... slightly glazed/hot perhaps?

    The sound has disappeared.
My working theory is that I just forgot to release the parking brake as I occasionally do.
