My 2022 SR5 had a blowout yesterday.. I'm in a very rural area...Walmart is the easiest replacement place but I could drive 50 miles to Costco. Any tire recommendations? I've got the spare on but can't get the tire light to go off. I will take any and all advice!! Thanks!!

TPMS light not going to go out until tire replacement since there's no TPMS in the spare.

Spare is a full size tire so there's no reason that you can't go drive 45,000 miles on it - except of course that you won't have another spare if you were to get another flat. So you can go to whatever tire shop you care to go to with no worries there.

If you are still on stock tires, with a 2022 I assume you are around 35,000+ miles so it's really time to just replace them all. Size and brand and type is a whole 'nother discussion.

Thank you so much. That's great info. And I'm always open to tire suggestions. Have you ever used any that Walmart has?.I'm really struggling with the fact that they're around $125. I feel like I paid more for replacements on my 2015 4runner. I don't want to be a tire snob but I also don't want to drive around with an unsafe tire.

Thanks so much. I've only bought tires one other time (lucky me!)... But I had them shipped to my local guys shop and he put them all on. I think the smartest thing at this point is for me to replace all four. I appreciate your help

I would order online and have the local guy install.

pay attention to getting them properly balanced, this is very important.

don’t break the bank, but don’t cheap out either. I have been using the Goodyear charge card and getting rebates and 12 months to pay with no interest

Thanks so much. I'm headed to my local guy right now. I think the thinking is I'm going to order a cheaper spare tire and then in a few thousand miles be replacing all four. There's a little bit of tread left but inspection is in October so it will be getting close by then

Blowout sounds pretty serious. Did the tire come apart, and if so, how fast were you going and how did you get control of the 4R? Just curious, as I've never had a blowout in 55+ years of driving.

Sounds like a good plan. I got 4 new Falken tires about 4 years ago, and one kept getting a nail in it. After the 3rd time, Discount Tire said no more. So sure enough, the same tire got another nail. I replaced all 4, and kept the best one as a spare.

Just to learn about your blowout experience.
OEM Tire brand name and Size? Over inflation in heat?
    Sidewall patch?

If I had a blow out, I’d be all about getting 4 new sneakers ASAP. If you are going to replace the spare, just get the same as what you put on and you can do 5 tire rotations and get longer life out of all of them

I was going over a bridge and was only going 35ish. The whole sidewall was ripped apart. I was able to pull over thanks to the low speed limit and wide lanes.

They're the originals that came on the car and they are Dunlap I think all terrain. Whatever I got from the dealership. I've never had a single problem in the 3 years I've had the car. I don't tend to drive long distances so the tread is pretty good. The bridge I went over is going through construction so I can only imagine that it was from some equipment that rolled into my lane. I couldn't see anything in my rear view mirror so I know it wasn't large. When I first heard it it sounded like a stick stuck in my wheel well. It was daylight and there was nothing large for me to see in the road.

So its more of an external factor rather than the tire itself?
