    Hello my fellow fisherpeoples:

I am looking for some 4runner storage/transpo ideas for fishing gear.

What kind of setups are you using for rods and tackle? I plan to get an aftermarket flat roof rack and mount those snowboard type holders on for the rods. Curious if anyone has any dedicated tackle storage in use currently, or if you work out of tackle boxes, etc.

I mostly do surf fishing out of the runner as of right now.

Nothing beats the Ski holders on the roof. I just use a small tackle box. I pre-make all my lines so I don't need a very big box just some extra for when shit happens.

Are those tubes commercial or did you make? Am looking for something for my fly rod(s).

Its Yakima FatCat mounted to the factory crossbars. They are ski holders but everyone down here uses them for poles. Not much snow in Hawaii.

    https://yakima.com/collections/ski-racks

I got the 4 which is more than enough for poles.

Depending on how long your fly rods are, you could do something like this. I have rods up to 7' 6" in here, and they're secure inside the 4runner.

That rod holder for inside is sweet. Is that something you made?

I plan to tow my Crestliner 3,200lb with mu 4Runner and troll for walleye or salmon. My rods are 7ft collapsed and I have six. This idea seems great. Currently I have to leave on floor of boat because of their length. That’s tough when you forget and want to hop in boat

Yes, I customized a Rod Saver rack I got at Bass Pro shops. All I did was cut and bend the aluminum and attach the Rod Saver rack to it. It keeps them out of my hair. My rods stay in them most of the year. :)

Did a lot of researching….but I think this might be the ultimate set up for fly fishing.

I found these and tested them out more than once. They work great, are reasonably priced, and even had someone ask us where we bought them. Care of tightline enterprises. I got one magnetic, one suction. The suction rattles out a little on bumpy mountain roads but never completely failed (it has a cool pump with a red line when the suction starts to slip). The magnets are tight as can be and super easy to remove. HIGHLY recommend as you don't have to install any permanent set up.

Very nice setup. I am on the other side of the state. Looks like you have some great trout holes. Over here I am onto the walleye wish we had those rivers here

My husband and I were just discussing this which prompted me to do an Amazon search. We are still laughing. We can’t be the only one that sees a potential disaster.

This was our choice. Budget friendly, will fit a 7’ rod, and it can go inside the vehicle or out.
