It's definitely silly to complain about the fuel economy, considering the type of vehicle this is. And, the fuel economy has always been shitty on BOF 4WD SUV's.

But, there's nothing wrong with doing what you can, within reason, to get the best fuel economy possible. I drive slow when I'm not in a hurry. And, I take off my roof rack whenever I know I won't need it for awhile.

Yep, it also grinds me gears whenever fuel economy comes up and the typical response is "buy a prius" or "it's going to be bad"

Folks just trying to make the most of what they got whether by savings or range.

For "bad" fuel economy it's sure better than a Sequoia and some full-sizers.

I'm not going to take a Prius down a fire road and people aren't expecting magical numbers.

The current state of TV commercials...... I am done with all of the medicinal advertisements to begin with.

Then when the local news ends we here, "We hear you and are all in this together." After watching 30 minutes of the news we are all magically in this together? Should be good night and every person for themselves..

Just starting a new rant thread adjacent to the "Are EVs dead?" thread. Good discussions, just derailing it a bit

"AI" is such a broad term but I'll assign it to the current crop of generative and large-language models.

They're great for very specific things (and there's plenty of other machine learning things that are pretty cool but that's all been rolled into the buzzword "AI"), but they're being shoehorned into everything because everyone's afraid of FOMO, not looking high tech, etc. to get onto this dead-end technology (referring specifically to LLMs) and I despise it.

No, I don't want to pollute Memphis more, waste clean water because nobody wants to bother paying for a closed cooling loop at datacenters or burn however much watts just because I was curious about how many amps I can shove through a wire. (The "answer" was that 22 gauge copper wire can safely handle 551 amps btw)

I agree. I feel like the biggest problem with AI right now is it's trying to be forced into a "jack of all trades" role, where it can or should be as smart as the average bear (or Joe, which may not be a high water mark).

I am interested in seeing it developed in the robotics role, though. Have it focus on specific tasks, suck as housekeeping. I would really like a Rosie around

The biggest problem with AI that I see is that AI only knows what has already been posted by humans and now other AIs on the internet and repeats what it has found on any given subject/question, if there's enough false info on any given subject/question posted on the internet AI with use that info as a true answer even though it's entirely wrong, then other AIs will use that answer on future inquiries and the preverbal false snowball is getting bigger and bigger.
