Ordered 1 oil filter from Amazon got 10?

Nice surprise when Amazon delivered today. Ordered one oil filter and got a box of 10 for $10.
I guess I won't have to be another oil filter for quite awhile. Ha

Amazon has alot of knockoff filters.....they may or may not be legit.

 

Can you trace back to the actual supplier?
IE: Toyota dealership or Chachachachaniaaa

 

If it’s all genuine and from a reputable seller, nice!

Being via Amazon though, be sure to look closely.

 

As a member of this and the 1stGen Tundra forum …. it can’t be said enough…..never buy important stuff from Fleabay or Scamazon unless it’s shipped by and sold by a reputable dealer… ex a genuine Toyota dealership or an authorized seller (Hoerr Racing Products - Redline Gear Oil and WS Trans fluid by the qt) that simply uses Amazon as a means of getting the $.

 

Maybe better to compare with a original filter before installing Amazon ones as it very well could be fake. CarCareNut YouTube has also have a good video (or 2) about how to identify fake Toyota parts.

 

thanks for posting that. I watched the video and ran to the garage to check mine (From Amazon) fortunately, they checked out. They have the toyota filters at Walmart, I will probably just buy from there. There are way too many counterfeits on Amazon

What doesn’t help is that Amazon can swap sellers in and out quietly depending on quantity selected, etc.

And if it’s shipped/fulfilled by Amazon, their inventory mixing means that you can buy from a legitimate seller and still get a counterfeit as it treats all SKU’s as the same.

Great for efficiency and speed, bad for customers if there’s someone adding in fake product somewhere upstream.

 

100% this…. There are lots of tricks to ensuring your getting the real deal, the best is when it’s sold and shipped by an authorized seller of the product. Another example is Starbucks Cafe Verona Whole bean 6 pack. I scroll down to other sellers and pay $6 more sold and shipped by Amazon but Amazon actually has it dropped shipped via UPS direct from Nestle/ Starbucks with an expiration date 6months out. Lots of little tricks but as you said Shipped and sold by Amazon is a gamble especially on parts such as Denso, etc…

 

Amazon sells fake Toyota parts. I got valve cover gaskets that melted when oil hit them. Wix XP is my alternative filter besides Toyota. ToyotaPartsDeal.com is cheapest, but research your part number first.

It’s a treasure trove of knowledge. I imagine this site will be the same in 15 - 20 years when these old 4Runners finally start showing their age.

 

I thought that “Sold by Smart Health” post was funny AF. I’m shopping for some Hoka Bondi 9 shoes right now and I keep Finding them sold by vendors like that on Amazon…lol. That would be a hard “No” from me….lol

 

Not to derail the convo. I have the clifton 9 and bondi 9. Both are worth the money, Hoka sometimes has good sales directly from them.

 

Ahhhh the famous Amazon bonus. I ordered 10 and I got 1. Just kidding lol.

 

Last year I ordered a 6TB external hard drive... and Amazon accidentally sent the same model but with 16TB, which is worth about $300 more. Happy accidents, ya know?

Reminds of a time a few years ago when I ordered a new key FOB outer casing /shell for my key FOB for my 2006 Tundra, on eBay. They sent me eight casings, even though I only ordered one. I used one to replace my original worn casing, and contacted the seller telling him I would ship the other seven back. They said don’t worry about it, so I didn’t. I gave all the spare FOB outer cases to the guy who bought my Tundra off me. lol…
