There has to be a way!

I drive at night and see it clearly.

During the day, I drive with the headlights on for safety and it automatically dims the radio. I can barely see it with glasses and definitely not with polarized sunglasses.

Is there a way I can turn the day light dimming off?

Turn this wheel all the way up until it clicks. Just remember to dial it back down at night.

Too many to list & Worth every penny!
Check in the infotainment screen and see if your brightness setting is too low.
Please list what year / model T4R you have.

    Thanks, it is a 2012 SR5.

It does not have the large info screen, just the radio screen.

That is the solution! I have the sensor at works great. The clock does not use it, but the infotainment system does.

Cheap part and easy to install. I got mine on Amazon.

Here is the Amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07X1XGF4L?ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
    cheers.

@jrzman - do you have what looks like a plastic plug in the middle of your dash, next to the windshield? If so, use a trim removal tool to pull up on it gently. If you're lucky, the wiring for the sensor being discussed above will be attached. If it is, put some type of clamp on it so it won't fall back in when you disconnect it. If it falls in there it's gone for good.

If not so lucky, there'll be nothing attached. Not all 4R models have the wiring for this feature, and I don't recall when this started being offered. I wouldn't buy the sensor until you know the wire connection for it is there.

    Oooh look, another mod.....

That’s what I did to fix my issue. It’s very easy to install. But be careful when you remove the old one, there is a wire plugged into it. Grab and hold onto that wire until you connect the new sensor.

Why do they have a wire plugged into a blank sensor? Who knows! But they do. After you connect it, pop it back into place and nothing else is required, it will just work.

If you decide to install the aforementioned sensor; When pulling up the dummy plug, slide a zip tie between the wiring before disconnecting from the plug. This will ensure the wiring + connector do not fall into the dash.

Turn your headlights off. The display thinks it is nighttime if your headlights are on anf dims the display so as not to degrade your night vision.
