COSTCO Engine Oil

Good timing. Just changed my oil! Next time,

 

Its dexos and has similar certifications as any other oil sold in the US.. Only difference between Valvoline, Mobil 1, Cosco, walmart, fram is the additivies.

Just like fuel, All fuel comes from same truck, its just later the top tier fuel giants like EXXON, Shell, BP etc add additives & filters to make it more efficient and help engine etc. I personally use Mobil 1, have used Valvoline too before on my 210K 4runner which I bought used and it did made huge difference.

I use Exxon, Shell, BP and Exxon fuel gives most power/efficiency to my engine personally, I can feel it. With oil its hard to tell but with Mobil 1 Extended Performance I always see small residue on tip of the dipstick, assuming its additives doing extra work to prevent carbon build up, with Toyota oil ive never seen it.

Anyway, use Valvo/Mobil 1 if you love your engine, use Costco or whatever if its just a car. Mobil 1 is basically what Toyota oil is without additives, Mobil 1 & Valvoline are both used in Nascar cars, so take that as you will.

I had no issues with it. Someone already posted a video about it.
Sometimes Costco runs it $5 off as well.

For what it’s worth, I also swapped from mobile 1 5w-30 to the Kirkland brand for my 02 is300. Swapped over at 230k, up to 260k now.

I also run OEM filters on both vehicles.

 

Kirkland works just fine.
