2002 4Runner Hesitation after stop

    Recently my 4 runner started hesitating for 5-7 seconds after i come to a stop. I press the accelerator and nothing happens, the engine doesn't rev at all and i go nowhere. After the time period of 5-7 seconds the vehicle will go as normal with good acceleration. It does not happen every time I stop, just at random times. Has anyone had this issue?

    Top Culprits? Bad Pedal position sensor and/or bad TPS. You can get a denso TPS now but I think the correct PPS is still not available. There are threads showing how to pop it open and rework the brushes and traces.

    Otherwise, we used to have to buy the entire Throttle Body assembly (which comes with both). Which is about $450 or so. I did this and it fixed a ton of driveability issues including a take-off hesitation. The TPS or PPS was simply worn to where the ECU had no idea where the gas pedal was.

    EDIT: this is for 2001-2002 which has a somewhat UNIQUE Throttle Body

    Ok, that was the direction I was leaning towards. I had read that the PPS was not available, so I will most likely start with the TPS before shelling out the $450 for the throttle body assembly. Thanks.
