Hello, I'm the new owner of a 2021 SR5 and I'm in the process of removing the dealer-installed Rockledge alarm system. This seems to be a relay for the alarm, what would be the best way to remove this part and terminate the wires? Thanks for any help.

Man, I don’t like messing with electrical/electronic things without a diagram. I’d go over to the dealer and have them give me a copy of the wiring diagram and instructions their techs used to install it, so as to correctly undo what all they had done.

If they told me they don’t have said documents, it’d be a fun time asking why they messed with the vehicle wiring with no known (proven/documented) procedure. (I’d be peeved that a dealer monkeyed with the truck to begin with, though….) ;)

The electrical system is the most complex system on a 4Runner.

You'd be better off giving the job to someone who knows what they are doing unless you've got some pretty stout electrical chops. Especially if you don't have an "as built" drawing to study before you start ripping stuff out.

What are you going to do if the truck won't run after you you think you're done?...

    Holy hell

"The 4runner has the most complex electrical system" rofl

How do some of you live once you step outside the doors to the outside?

Its some rudimentary alarm system which means they probably used taps/splices and spliced into your electrical system. Identify the loom of the alarm system and separate it.. it really isnt hard

I'm waiting for the "I uninstalled dealer alarm and now my 4runner won't start" thread

OP, good luck removing and hope you don't have any issues. If I knew what I were talking about I'd offer advice but I'd be afraid it has some vehicle immobilizer if tampered with or removed (otherwise what's the point). Personally, I'd ask the dealer to remove it at their cost if you didn't ask for it to begin with

    Good luck!
To all who said "take it back to the dealer", keep in mind that this is a 2021 model, not a new model, that alarm system was most likely installed at the original dealer that sold it when it was new, the dealer he bought it from probably won't touch it, if they do agree to remove it they will charge a hefty fee for their service!!

True. Another option is to take it to Canada, wait for the thieves to disable it, then stop them before it reaches a shipping container bound for Nigeria.

OP, if it helps, it appears there is online information about it (with videos)

Too many to list & Worth every penny!
That is when @roooo , will immediately respond and donate his time and money, fly out and get that non complicated electrical system back and responding so the engine starts.

Take it back to the dealer and have them uninstall it.

I didn't say that. Apparently you don't read so good.

No wonder you don't know what you're talking about.

    Welcome.

A good competent car audio shop can uninstall it at a low cost. I wouldn’t recommend messing with the wiring, unless you know what you’re doing.

Thanks for the replies, I opted out of the add-on alarm option at the dealer so the system was deactivated and only the hardware was left. Most of it was easily removed by simply unplugging the T-taps but I won't mess with the relay until I can find a wiring diagram.
