Just received our new 2025 4Runner Limited and need to hard wire an RJ11 into overhead console for a radar detector. However, instead of the std 10pin plug like the new Landcruiser or GX550, the 4Runner has an "odd" 8-pin+2 type of connector. So this convenient wire tap won't work: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0DHS3TGQZ?smid=A1DM7JBX6HE4ET&th=1

Has anyone hardwired into either the overhead console OR the mirror for an RJ11 radar detector, and how? I can get the console down (opened up) but haven't figured out the mirror housing.
    Thanks!!

The easiest way I've found of probing around is to unplug the power cable from the back of the RVM, grab some thin wires, and use those wires and probe into the plug with your multimeter. The multimeter probes are usually too large to get in there so that's where the thin wires come into play.

I prefer to do an add a fuse direct into the fuse box. But i am old school, if an adaptor woks thats super easy.

What Radar Detector? Have you tested it out in the 2025 yet to see if you get any K band falsing from the lain assist?

Finally found how to open mirror housing - HARD push straight toward front of vehicle (after removing small center piece first). Found std 10-pin plug there so Amazon wire tap works!

I have and can tell you like others. Disconnected your battery first. If all of a sudden your heat and windows don’t work you blew the fuse. On Amazon you can find the mirror wire taps. Also, zip tie the cord to the arm of the mirror. If the radar detector falls and it’s not ziP tied, that can pop a fuse as well. Go ahead, ask me how I know.
