2017 4Runner unit works intermittently

Hello, looking to see if anyone has had this issue and figured out a fi. My screen starting working intermittently. Radio would work and then it wouldn't. Now it's just stuck on this screen and sometimes reboots randomly while driving. The only thing on the unit that still works fine is the reverse camera. I have tried all troubleshooting items I could find. I unplugged battery for 30 min, checked all fuse, reset radios by holding down volume button. Nothing seems to work. I tried looking into aftermarket replacements, but I really like the OEM look much more. Many of the after market units seem to have microphone issues, connectivity issues, and sound issues. Any advice would be much appreciated. I was also wondering has anyone tried just replace the radio portion like shown on Hamilton website (https://www.hamiltonmotorcompany.com/products/2014-2019-toyota-4runner-apple-carplay-upgrade-module). This allows you to keep OEM look and functionality of original microphone and other features, but will update unit with apple car play. I'm not even sure if this would work with my unit since it seems to be broken. Please help

 

Had similar issues in my '15 SR5. Fooled around with it for 3 months. I or an electronics repair shop couldn't fix it.

Welcome. If you're looking for an android unit those Hamilton and car trim home T12 models are pretty darn cool. Crutchfield.com won't show android radios but great source for all others.

 

It is possible that your unit needs a software update, can be obtained at a Toyota dealer service department. I had the issue you describe on my 2012, and the software update took care of the problem.

 

My '23 runner had a defective ACC-2 relay (one of the blue relay in the engine bay fuse box) that caused both cigarette lighter to intermittently cut off while driving. Took me a few weeks to trace down the exact culprit. Symptom was the usb adapter LED still show power but due to the weak relay connection would cause the dash cam to turn off after few minutes of operation.
