I got the bp-51 installed on my 2015 4Runner Limited with Wildpeak 285/70R17.

I am not sure if this is the expected fender gaps and it’s looking too much to me right now.

Could someone please let me know if this is the expected fender gap especially on rear.

Looks good to me! What is the height difference front to back? 1" to 1.5" rake is perfect IMO. Especially if you intend to have any weight in the back. Springs will probably settle a tad as well.

Looks like a bit high on the back end for my tastes as well. Sometimes they settle a bit after a couple hundred miles.

What was your intended lift height? Did you verify you received the correct rear coils for that height?

Besides just receiving the wrong coils, selecting coils with too high of a spring rate can cause this. Some coils also tend to run a bit higher than advertised.

I’ve been down this road already. I bought some heavy spring-rate coils because my previous aftermarket coils were starting tl get overwhelmed with permanent weight I’ve added over the years. But they just did not settle with weight. I ended up going back to my previous coils and adding a 1/2 in spacer. All this to say, that sometimes a little experimentation and trial and error is needed to dial in exactly what you want.

I got ARB Coil Springs (2895). I wanted to have ~1.5in of rear and ~2.5in of front lift. Wondering if I can get that with some sag in first 1000mi.

Right now, it just seems like the wheels sit too far from the body—or maybe it’s just my perception.

Here are some measured details, before and after

    Old Setup (OEM)

    Rear:
Gap between tire and fender: 5.12 in
Tire height (when installed): 31.1 in
From tire center to Fender: 20.47 in

    Front:
Gap between tire and fender: 3.15 in
    Tire height(when installed): 31.1 in
From tire center to Fender: 18.9 in

    New Setup (BP-51 & 285s)

    Rear:
Gap between tire and fender: 7.48 in
    Tire height(when installed): 32.28 in
From tire center to Fender: 23.62 in

    Front:
Gap between tire and fender: 6 in
    Tire Height(when installed): 32.28 in
From tire center to Fender: 22.24 in

Is there any solid timeframe by when I will start seeing any sag?

Not really. Depends on the springs as well. Some just dont sag much at all, some over 5k miles, etc. My dobinsons barely sagged 1/4" over a few thousand miles. Toss some heavy weight in the back and go hit some speed bumps.

If I am reading your measurements right, you are only about 1.38" of rake. That looks perfect to me. Got any more pictures outside in the sun. Hard to see with the shadows and dark paint.

OP, weren't those OEM Limited wheels you had 20s? If you're on 17" Methods now, there's also gap difference you created there by going with smaller wheels, too.

The new Method wheels with 285/70R17 tires are taller than the stock 245/60R20 setup, which slightly reduces the fender gap.

That’s a really nice looking rig. The lift looks good to me, in regards to height, rake, and fender gap. I am also running BP-51s and my rear did settle a little (1/4-1/2 inch’s). I attached some pictures of mine for comparison. I am also running 285/70/17s. IMG_3844.jpg IMG_3847.jpg

Fender gap looks healthy for an off-road vehicle. Hell, you didn't spend all that money just to sit at the same height.

The Limited is lower than SR5/TRD from the factory, so the difference appears more drastic.

You got a 3" lift out of those front and back.

That's a lot of lift for these vehicles.

The space between the tires and fenders would be too much for my taste. Sounds like they are for you too.

It might settle down to 2.5" but are you willing to wait and see?

What load coil did you go with?

Are the fronts adjusted all the way down?

If it was me, I would lower the front down to 2" of lift and replace those rear coils with something smaller. That's probably your cheapest option if the current look bothers you.

Yea, I think that too. It’s a 3in lift, measurements say that too.

The ARB Coil Springs (2895) are used here.

My conversation with the shop owner before work was that he will do 1.5in lift on the rear and 2.5in on the front. But the results are way too far.

I called him yesterday mentioning the same concern, he said he gonna take a look when I come for the alignment next week after driving ~300 miles.

There is no guarantee on how much sag I will get over time. But the current lift is too high and I feel a little stability issues (comparing with my oem limited setup) while curving on highway at high speed due to this much of height.

This looks good, mine is higher than this :(.

I started looking other 4Runners on road and having so much of lift (3in) impacts the overall look of my car. 3in is too much of lift for me.

What coil springs you are using in your build?

Now that I see those pictures, it looks fine. The pictures in the garage maybe distorted things a bit and made it look taller.

I’d probably drive it a while and see how things settle before you decide if you need to change anything up.

Yea, I will drive that for a week ~300 miles and see how things settle up. But 3in lift seems too high to me.

Not sure if I missed it, but what was the advertised lift height of the coils you ordered? Do you have a third row seat installed?

Yes, I have 3rd row seat installed.

ARB Coil Springs (2895) are advertised as upto 2in rear and 2.5in front (correct me if I am wrong here). Popular combination I checked and finalized before getting the work done was 1.5in rear and 2.5in front.

When I looked up OME BP-51's, it said 2-3" of lift.

There were different coil options to get you to that level of lift though.

We're not sure which coils the OP has yet.

Gotcha, so when we say 2-3in of lift, can that be configured for rear (say 2in, instead of 3in)? I know we can do that for the front by compressing, not sure if that’s an option for rear.
