Oil maintenance warning frequency

I am NOT debating oil change intervals!!!!!!!

Is there a way to change how often that "Oil Maintenance Required" warning comes up?

In my other car (Mitsu) I can set it to 5, 6, 7.5, or 10 K

 

No, I believe the 5k warning light is hardwired with the odometer and cannot be altered.

 

If so set it for every 10k, throw some supertech synthetic in there. The engine will go 800k miles easy!

 

You cannot change when it goes off. Toyota hard codes that data into the computer. All you can do is get use to resetting it every time it goes off manually.


Edit: The service notification isn’t just for oil changes; it’s for maintenance. It also gives a reminder 300 miles before it needs the servicing.

Yep I’m stuck at 10k interval warnings, wish I could turn them off personally since the headunit is already set how I like it.

 

R u saying you get this message every 10K? not 5 as the rest of us? Did you do something for it? did Dealer do something?

 

Later years have the dash warning set to 10k miles I believe.

 

I don’t think so since I get the message at every 5k.

 

When I bought my 21 it was programmed for 10K intervals. I had the service lead reprogram it to 5K intervals.

 

Fascinating, I wonder if it’s a Techstream setting.

You guys are giving the OP false hope. It cannot be done, because if it could be done someone would have written a thread about it and it would have been pinned to the top of the 5 gen area and we'd all be bragging about that 'mod'.

- Menu
- Setup
- Vehicle
- Maintenance
- Engine Oil
- Distance

Cannot be done on the 10-13 MYs

 

The alert in the gauge cluster and the one in the head unit are completely independent.

I set mine for 5,500 and that pops up in the head unit but the gauge cluster one triggers every 9,500 miles or something like that.

 

On my 2024 Limited with the JBL system, the gauge cluster notification warning starts coming on at 4700 miles (5000 mile maintenance interval). In menu > settings, there is no vehicle option.

 

Call me a weirdo, but I’ve done all my oil changes, before the 5k reminder, and I reset it.

now that I think of it, I’ve actually have never had my truck show that maintenance required light lol. I just got into the habit of doing it when I change it bored on a Sunday

 

What's a maintenance reminder?

 

Don’t know about 5th Gens, but my 4th Gen has an amber MAINT light that starts blinking. Leave it and it will eventually stay on all the time until you reset it.

 

Every 5000 miles, dash will display "Maintenance Required". This is regardless of any other system or actual maintenance performed unless the warning is reset through the cluster. This is hardwired into the system and cannot be changed.

In the headunit, you can set custom reminders for date and milage. These will only display on the headunit, and affect no other systems. You can delete all reminders if desired.

 

I'm on 3K-4K oil intervals and always forget to reset the reminder until it comes on at 5K from the last time.
