    Hello,

My name is Brian and I am a new 4th Gen Toyota 4 Runner owner.
This rig is an absolutely clean and was a garage king 4Runner that has 215,500 miles. It is the Titanium Metallic color and is the 4.7 v8 engine Sport edition with the X-Reas suspension that doesn't seem to be malfunctioning yet.

Is this vehicle a can bus system?
I know it is OBD II
I live in rural Northern California and I need to register it tomorrow.
I want to add a new head unit
I want to install LED lighting throughout
I also want to fix the shifting gate actuator/spring Shifting linkage thing. Not sure what it is called. And I want to order a factory service repair manual if I can find one in good to excellent condition.

I absolutely love this thing so far.

Any Ideas within economic sense would be appreciated. This rig will be even more loved. We are friends with the original owner.

I do not want to turn this into a mud king or rock crawler. It is way to nice for that.

I have previous Chrysler and Honda vehicles and own a CRV EXL AWD and a Civic. My dodge was totaled 3 weeks ago and this vehicle was sold to us from a very dear friend of ours. I have never wrenched on Toyota's and or owned one before so we are new to the Toyota Adventure.

Please be kind and patient with me as I am a slow learner.

    THANK YOU

Can bus wiring came along in 2005 or 2006 (I think). I bought a brand new complete set of 2009 paper factory service manuals and a wiring schematic book from a vendor on eBay. Pricey, but worth it to me. There're more than a few differences throughout the '03-'09 model run and a year-specific manual helps in that regard.

Edit: I avoid LED bulbs like green cheese. I use whatever bulbs the chart in the owner's manual says to use.

Its OBDII, but depending the year of yours (i don't think you mentioned it) there are different protocols used with the scanners. All i know is when i plugged in my UltraGauge, it tripped my VSC light and i had to do a zero point calibration to get it to go away. Don't quote me on it, but maybe something with the OBD port pinouts trips it with 'newer' type scanners.
